Dragon language, damn dragon language!
After yet another morning of Dragon language classes, Long Yi, having been tortured mercilessly, hurried out of the classroom. He couldn't communicate with this elf, nor could he resort to violence against it. It was like a lion trying to eat a porcupine – having nowhere to attack.
Frankly speaking, if it came down to a fight, it was doubtful whether Long Yi would be a match for this elf.
Elves have long lifespans. The one who looked young could possibly be over a hundred years old. Their long lives afford them enough time to become the strongest warriors.
Upon leaving the classroom, Long Yi took the opportunity of a break from training to head to the Dwarven Golden Hammer's smithy. That promised weekend, Long Yi received the necessary parts and had his full set of equipment delivered by a transport Flying Dragon. The rear of Golden Hammer's smith smithy had a sizable room, just enough to accommodate these large devices.
After replacing the obtained parts, Long Yi eagerly processed a batch of metals. Watching the smooth operation, the Dwarven Golden Hammer's eyes nearly bulged out of his head! He snatched up the still-hot parts and rubbed the lathe marks on it, his hand trembling.
This thing, it's too useful! The best craftsmen in Furnace Fortress couldn't achieve this precision! With these tools, I could become an Elder! An Elder!
In the following days, Long Yi taught the basics of these tools to the Dwarven Golden Hammer. Long Yi believed that with the heart of a Dwarf craftsman, these tools could indeed be put to their maximum usage.
However, when he arrived at the front of the smithy, what he saw was a long line from the entrance to the corner of the street! After enquiring carefully, he heard a piece of news that was both amusing and irritating. Golden Hammer had been using the weapons in his shop to practice with the equipment. One after another, the practice products were placed on the front desk. A second-year student came here, found a Dragon-slaying Sword that had been lathed to perfection and polished to a brilliant shine, immediately purchased it at a high price, and went back to show off extravagantly.
Thus, word spread and a line formed.
The shop had not yet opened, and the Dwarven Golden Hammer should be in the backyard. People in the queue were exchanging tips and speculating about when the shop would open. Generally speaking, Golden Hammer would only leave the backyard to rest at the front desk when he was tired. This time was short and unpredictable, so buying something required good luck.
Actually, any equipment in Golden Hammer's shop was absolutely not cheap, and after fine processing, it became even more expensive. But people still flocked to his shop!
Golden Hammer would wake up laughing from his dreams.
Long Yi walked over and pushed the door. It was locked from the inside. Would he have to use the back door?
Long Yi turned around, only to meet a bunch of angry stares.
"Hey, big guy, don't you know about queueing?" Golden Hammer is my father's close friend, should I queue up? Am I a fool?
"Do you want to buy Master Golden Hammer's equipment? Look at yourself first!" Is money not enough to buy things, do I have to pass a test?
"Kid, get lost or I'll lose my temper, when I get angry, I'm even afraid of myself!" Are you afraid of spontaneously combusting?
Facing the increased resentment of the crowd, Long Yi found it somewhat funny.
"Uncle Golden Hammer! Open the door!"
Long Yi shouted at the top of his voice, causing the people around to first be stunned and then burst into loud laughter.
Has this kid gone mad? With the Dwarfs' terrible temper, he wants to curry favour with them? He is dreaming!
Immediately, a sound of metallic clanging came from within the courtyard, like metal objects being carelessly thrown aside.
The crowd's gazes towards Long Yi became more ridicule. If you offend a Dwarf, you won't get good equipment for the rest of your life. Ah, of course, the Elves will be happy if you offend a Dwarf. However, the goods from the Elves aren't cheap, and they absolutely won't give you a discount.
Let's see how you're going to die!
Long Yi, an honest man, of course, couldn't go ahead and slap everyone in the face.
At this moment, the door opened.
The Dwarf Golden Hammer, with his face buried in his whiskers, looked up and naturally saw Long Yi.
"Come in quickly!"
Without wasting words, the Dwarf pulled Long Yi into the house, then closed the door with a bang.
They were dumbfounded!
This bastard, knows the Dwarven Golden Hammer!
He actually knows him!
Why didn't you say this earlier! If you'd said we would have come to fawn on you! Looking at your honest face, how could you be so wicked!
Of course, Long Yi couldn't tell them: "I was always this wicked!"
Right now, Golden Hammer was excitedly sharing his experience of the past few days with Long Yi, and was also showcasing his products.
Long Yi looked them over, thinking, the dwarves are indeed master craftsmen. They were soon able to skillfully use the bed-type machines.
"But, Uncle, if you sell these, you'll definitely destroy your reputation."
Long Yi had no choice but to throw a bucket of cold water on Golden Hammer.
"Oh? Why?"
Golden Hammer asked, his eyes hidden beneath his thick eyebrows shone brightly.
"Because they'll rust soon."
Long Yi said with a smile, he could see that the dwarf knew about it.
Golden Hammer roared with laughter: "Good lad, if you knew, how could I not know? That day I was so tired and confused, I regretted it after selling it. I found the kid who bought the Dragon-slaying Sword, told him that the sword wasn't finished yet, and took it back. After that, I didn't sell anymore."
After saying these words, Golden Hammer looked a little unhappy at the parts scattered on the ground. Some of them he had already treated. Others were lying on the floor, already showing signs of rust.
"If we grind off the scale, it will rust. If we treat it after grinding, it will look bad. Boy, what should we do?"
Golden Hammer had tried all kinds of rust prevention methods, none of which worked well.
"I do have a few ideas."
Long Yi blinked, smiling.
Even stainless steel could rust. If we want it not to rust, we have to isolate oxygen and water from the iron.
Acid-washing, stone grinding, sandblasting, bluing, chrome plating, painting.
All these are Long Yi's methods.
Actually, Long Yi quite favours chrome plating. It's shiny and will instantly blind enemies. Sadly, resources are scarce in this world, so it's hard to achieve this.
The rest of the methods are fairly easy to implement.
"Of course, some sword oil would also be necessary. Tell everyone who buys your equipment that they must clean it afterward and use the sword oil for maintenance,"
Long Yi advised gently.
"What sort of joke is this, maintaining weapons? That's something women do! A real man would get a new sword after chopping up an old one!" The dwarf disagreed with Long Yi's idea.
"Not everyone is as macho as you," Long Yi replied.
"What use is a weapon for anyone who isn't macho!? To look at? To play with as a toy?" asked the disgruntled dwarf.
"Look, not everyone is a Dragon Knight. The White Dragon Empire alone has 3 million regular troops. The weapons they use have always been standard issue from the Dwarves. These weapons are good enough, but even you, uncle, have to admit they're not as good as the elves' weapons, right!" Long Yi retorted.
"BS!" Golden Hammer cursed but didn't say anything else, which was pretty much an admission.
"Those soldiers might not even be able to afford an elvish weapon with their yearly allowance. But with just two months of salary, they could get a dwarf weapon. Don't you think that's terrible?"
"So?" the dwarf asked in return.
"So, we need some mid-high end products that sit in between the dwarf and elves' weapons. They should inherit the robustness and reliability of the dwarven weapons, yet be even finer. They should be worth four months, maybe half a year's salary."
The words touched Golden Hammer. He contemplated for a while, his eyes beginning to sparkle. Listen! That's the sound of coins singing!
No dwarf could resist the allure of gold! It's in their nature!
We love gold!
Long Yi was right on the money!
My shrewd businessman spirit is awakened!
Long Yi suddenly realized that he wasn't without a knack for business. It was just overshadowed by his warrior's aura! All this was because of the vast amount of supposedly Master's work sabers he bought in his past life. Just think about it, a 30 cm short blade could sell for twenty thousand dollars! That was bloody ridiculous!
Now, transposing those concepts into this world, in a world where cold weapons reign supreme, it most definitely means earning more!
The weapons in this world need to meet two requirements. They must be sturdy and hold more Dragon aura. Everything else is an add-on value!
Leaving the excited Golden Hammer, Long Yi turned to leave, but as he opened the door, he saw two people standing there, one of them about to push the door.
Looking at their wristbands, they were clearly from second and third-year classes of the Dragon Knight Academy.
Long Yi didn't recognize them and certainly wasn't interested. So, he turned to close the door, about to leave, but his wrist was suddenly grabbed by one of them. Looking up, it was the sophomore guy.
"Is Master Golden Hammer in?"
The sophomore asked.
Long Yi slowly raised his wrist, looking at the man's hand tightly gripping it. He suddenly smiled, saying, "I'm sorry, it could never work between us. I like women."
The guy was startled, then realized Long Yi was messing with him. He grip tightened, yanking Long Yi forcefully backward. But to his surprise, Long Yi was unmoved.
"Young man, even though I am big and strong, no matter how hard you try, I still prefer women. It's impossible between us. You should go find other men,"
Long Yi told him gravely.
"Bastard!"
The man erupted, his Dragon aura burst forth, and his other fist came swinging towards Long Yi's head!
Looking at the unavoidable punch, Long Yi jerked his grabbed wrist up. The whole person of the attacker was lifted, and their punch barely scraped Long Yi's hair and flew past.
"Still not letting go? For a hopeless homosexual, your perseverance is commendable."
As he spoke, Long Yi's own dragon aura also exploded, surprisingly not inferior to the sophomore guy's!
From the side, the third-year guy who had been silently watching, smirked coldly, about to step forward, but felt a tremendous pressure rushing from the sky, scaring him into retreating!
Bang!
A golden war hammer, wrapped in an immense pressure, slammed directly into the ground. People nearby were directly knocked off their feet by the tremors, people further away felt the ground shake!
"Are you all tired of living, huh!? Never seen a dwarf kill, have you?"
A coarse shout came, and the onlookers immediately ran away. Now, only the three of them remained.
Long Yi raised his arm seeing his wrist, faintly throbbing from the red handprint. This guy's strength must be greater than Luo Qi's. Since Luo Qi was ranked third, this guy must be either second or first.
"At the practical class in the afternoon, I'll find you in the second year. Don't run away, you homosexual,"
Long Yi pointed at the man's nose a few times, then turned to leave.
"Tang Ze, since when did second year students get bullied by first year ones?"
The third year coldly asked.
Tang Ze bowed his head gently, muttering, "I will handle him myself in the afternoon."
"You better."
