Everyone finally arrived at a majestic castle where there was sufficient light.

They estimated the time through the density of fireflies in the sky. As time progressed towards noon, the number of fireflies would increase. Then, as the afternoon arrived, the number would decrease until there were no fireflies in the sky by night.
