Without light, without hope, people cannot continue to live. That's why people rely on something, demand something, carve idols in their hearts, and then nourish gods within themselves.
This has nothing to do with legitimacy; it's merely an action necessary for survival. To resist despair and live in a cruel and unfree world, they need something to fill the void within their hearts, to relieve anxiety through devotion, to soothe unrest through fervent belief, telling themselves "there is still room and possibility for improvement in the world" to welcome the arrival of tomorrow.
No one can ridicule this need.
To say that people could live without those things, to depend on intangible entities and statues that cannot speak or move is simply too foolish—those who can assert such a statement are either living very happily, without any connection to hardship or struggle, or are living completely disconnected from the world.
