Lieutenant Colonel Herman Balk put down the headset, pressing hard against his throbbing temples, his furrowed brows showing that the combat group commander was in a state of agitation. It seemed that the recent communication with Admiral Crest had placed a great deal of pressure on the lieutenant colonel, and as for the source of that pressure, those present at the temporary Headquarters would soon find out.
After massaging for quite a while, the lieutenant colonel dropped his hand, the hesitation and anguish having disappeared from his eyes, replaced by a chilling coldness.
