Ever since the Charlemagne men arrived, everything changed.
Juan didn't understand terms like "homeland," "honor," or "nation." As platoons of soldiers in black uniforms marched past him, he knew only one thing — starting today, he would be paying taxes to these foreigners.
But everyone, including himself, seemed to have misunderstood. The Charlemagne men were not rulers; they were thugs, thieves, bandits, murderers, beasts clad in human skin. The old landlords and robbers were bad enough, but these black-skinned beasts were worse — rape, murder, robbery, arson... aside from the scams that required brains and time, the Titans committed nearly every act of violent crime imaginable. They took anything of value, kidnapped any pretty girl they saw, and if they saw a big house, they charged in and drove the people out, killing anyone who resisted, regardless of age or gender!
