For foreigners, Castile is a tourist destination, a nation of humans filled with breathtaking scenery and exotic charm. The Moorish castles of Granada, the enchanting snow-capped mountains of Santander, the lush Navarre Forest, the silvery beaches of the Sun Coast, the bullfighting arenas of Ulsalia… everything seems so captivating. However, that is merely the Castile glimpsed by outsiders from passing impressions. Those who have lived on this land for generations know of another Castile hidden beneath its beautiful facade—real, not so pretty, and quite cruel.
