"Ligo Morris, sir."
The boy was about thirteen years old, very skinny, with freckles on his face, speaking in accent-laden Elf language that sounded slightly odd and even stuttering, as he continued timidly.
"My family runs a bakery in Lalos Village. We set up our stall every morning, displaying fresh milk and baked bread. It was still dark, and when I heard noise by the bread, I thought it was a mouse. But then I saw a figure, darting past. I was stunned and it took me a while before I called for help."
Ralph turned his face away, and Mark knew what he was thinking. If this were an Elf's child, and he had grown to this size without knowing how to properly handle emergencies, Ralph would definitely beat him.
"Did you see anyone else at the time, Ligo?"
Mark asked kindly, sounding more like an uncle to the kid than a police officer.
"No, sir. By the Mother Goddess, I only saw one person. I was completely flustered, not intentionally delaying in reporting."
