The outcome of the naval battle was predictable. The trapped Varangian had no chance to escape or use any tactics. It had only one fate no matter how long it held on: becoming a target ship repeatedly violated by enemy fleets.
Regardless, the Varangian and its crew did their absolute best, better than anyone could've imagined.
