"Life is always stranger than fiction."
Roland turned his face away, looking disdainful.
"That's what he said, didn't he? You haven't forgotten, have you?"
Nidhogg shook his head slowly, laughing happily. Roland thought he could use the gentleman's philosophical words to refute him, and it seemed to hold up. But he forgot two things—he hated to quote Li Lin's theories; and, moreover, the gentleman would never allow any loopholes in his theories.
"The gentleman has also said that stories come from life, but are above life."
Black Dragon spread his hands and continued, mimicking Li Lin's tone:
"You see, no matter what, the gentleman always finds some aphorisms to prove his own correctness, and, every time, he ends up being proven right."
He may have just been joking, but the content of the joke was exactly what Roland hated most.
... A Li Lin who is always right is enough to make his scalp tingle.
