In an age with limited siege tactics, conquering a city surrounded by sturdy walls was no easy task. Both sides would fight back and forth, circling the city walls for years, even decades, without capturing the city. It wasn't until the Mongols brought the cannons, a new invention, to Europe through their western campaigns that the white-devil Europeans realized - this is how cannons should be used!
Subsequently, cannons underwent a series of developments and various upgrades. It wasn't until 1453, when the turban-wearing Turkish turkeys used the Uurban cannon to breach the walls of Constantinople and tragedy struck the Christian youths of the city, that the giant cannon truly became a "City Siege Treasure" and the most eye-catching star in various fortress sieges.
