Walking in the footsteps of Li Lin, clinging to rocks tested for stability, pushing his body to climb to higher positions, emerging from the pile of snow-covered stones, stepping onto the winding uphill pathway, Roland is assailed by the typical inappropriate thoughts of first-time climbers.
[Where on earth am I? What's down below?]
Driven by foolish curiosity, Roland stops momentarily, turning his face backward, his violet pupils reflecting a landscape that makes him realise his insignificance.
Are the undulating green waves beneath the protruding rock on which he stands a forest? Are those raised features in the distance mountains or hills? And that line separating the bright blue sky and the lush green ground— what appears to be an endless boundary line within arm's reach.
"That line is beyond your reach, reaching out will only have you swallowed by the vast world."
