The first to break through the heavy defenses was a roaring sound akin to an explosion.
The soldiers' response was swift. Before pondering what the noise could be, their well-trained bodies had already entered battle readiness in an instant, making the motion to raise their guns and take aim. The vast majority pointed their muzzles in the direction of the sound. It should be said that they performed very well.
However, when facing something beyond common sense, they were still a beat too slow.
In the blink of an eye, some object had already shot out of sight, leaving a red afterimage burned into the soldiers' retinas. It was not a collective hallucination or some kind of illusion. It was something with real weight that whipped up a fierce wind on the ground, moving so fast that one couldn't make out its outline, leaving only a red streak like a meteor, far behind the howling storm and the dumfounded soldiers.
