"Daddy... Mommy... Help me..."
The intermittent cries of a child desperately calling for help echoed in the man-eating Devil's Forest. Such heart-wrenching cries should awaken protection in others, but Roland and Minerva remained motionless.
"Save me... Who will save me..."
Despairing wails rattled the air as Roland clenched his lower lip.
That child was beyond saving, no one could rescue him.
Look at the creature emerging from the bushes, revealing a beast's body under its neck. Everyone could perceive the irrevocable facts.
A true human-faced dog, a child's head grafted onto the body of a dog. It spoke human language, made various expressions, but behaved just like a dog.
The human-faced dog wept as it approached Roland and Minerva, and then-
"Wooooaaaaaaaahhhhhh——!!!"
It howled just like a dog howling at the moon, but the sound it made was the heartrending cry of a human child.
"Run! It's calling for its comrades!!"
