Roland detected the anomaly a few seconds before the examiners. He was just worrying about how to get through the exam and rid himself of the princess's pestering when a near sixth sense of danger and the manic energy of the surrounding Mana invaded his senses.
Though it was deemed an anomaly, it didn't happen out of thin air.
Since that candidate stepped into the exam area, Mana started connecting at an incredibly slow speed that was almost imperceptible. Using the bustling environment as cover, at least three Magics frames were completed.
This was entirely a Magic duel comportment, something only a superior level magician in the Hexagon could achieve - "launching more than two Magic patterns simultaneously."
Such strength in a candidate who had remained unknown was a bit incredible to Roland. Tracking back along the loop to its source, the sinister grin on the face of the man on the stage made Roland gasp.
