According to the elves' prediction, Roland's range of movement would be limited between the old road from their previous campsite to Bodoe Village. By the time he reached the village he once lived in, the boy's physical and mental strength would be at their limit, and his time left for wilderness survival would not be long.
Bodoe Village had vanished completely from the world. In addition to the destruction caused by the battle, the erosion and assimilation of the "Boil Mirror" had covered the village itself and all traces of human habitation, the remains of battles, and so on.
