Fortresses, in the traditional sense, are defensive installations, constructed to guard strategic locations, with multiple defense systems, ample self-sustainability, and sufficient troops—this is the very definition of a fortress. However, the so-called mobile fortress, strictly speaking, is not compatible with the conventional definition of a fortress. After all, it's a large-scale facility designed and manufactured with an offensive intent. In terms of usage and tactical design, a mobile fortress is more akin to an aircraft carrier, serving as a movable forward base. The only difference is that such an aircraft carrier is astonishingly large and also possesses the thick armor and large-caliber artillery usually not found on standard carriers, which makes the mobile fortress most comparable to the "Ise" and "Hyuga" class hybrid battleships of the Old Japanese Empire's navy.
