At the moment, Roland did not want to fall out with the army. He could not radically eliminate those malpractices and cut off the pile of useless offices. However, he was still able to devise a supply logistics plan that suited both the reality of the situation and the needs.
The Wehrmacht led the world in understanding and building logistics supplies. When Roland was at the Youth Military Academy, just after completing march-past, his class was taken out for a staff ride. A group of minors, fully armed and traversing hills and rivers, were exhausted not only to strengthen their physique and obedience to commands but also to deeply engrain the importance of logistics in these novices' minds. Having tasted hunger and fatigue, anyone entering the logistic areas for rest could genuinely understand how terrifying it was to have supply lines cut off on the battlefield, and naturally, very few dared to doze off in subsequent logistics classes.
