What are the reactions of humanity when faced with terror beyond imagination?
Panic, chaos, helplessness—the initial reactions are more or less the same. Then, some try to save themselves, while others take advantage of the situation. Different values lead to different actions.
But once people realize that neither self-rescue nor escape is possible, they start to perish on their own. Imprisoned by fear and despair, they become self-destructive, fighting each other for life, property, food, chastity, etc., foolishly exhausting themselves and depleting each other's energy continuously.
The military is dispatched after major disasters not only because they are efficient, but also because they can stabilize social order quickly.
Objectively speaking, there's nothing to blame. As a biological creature, the aversion to death is innate. Even if it's just for a fleeting moment, one will do everything possible to cling to life.
The struggles of people are very beautiful.
