For people far removed from the conflict, especially those on opposing sides of the trenches, the word "tranquil" equated to "boring" during this year's Sprouting Month.
Having arrived in Castile, Albion soldiers, Charlemagne's men, and the beastmen soldiers soon realized that living conditions here were completely different from those in their homelands, and much worse than those in domestic training camps.
The war had impoverished the land, leaving villages and towns desolate. Few able-bodied men could be seen, only a minority of war cripples. All work in the wartime villages and towns was done by women and older men, who generally suffered from malnutrition. This fact greatly disappointed the furry-coated soldiers, who couldn't survive without women and vodka, and had hoped to find human "maidens" to satisfy their cravings. Instead, the cities were full of "skin and bones," a stark contrast to their belief that women should be as plump and healthy as heifers.
