Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 - Ace

In the middle of the night, a dark shadow walks almost silently through the fortress of the Guild of Stigmata's Skin.

After crossing the corridor, footsteps came from up ahead and the light of a carrying lamp approached.

The dark figure immediately ducked into the corner of the stairs.

The hunter in charge of the night patrol completely missed the fact that there was someone here and brushed past the dark figure.

Darkness, the best cover for an assassin.

When the patrollers had gone by, the dark figure stepped out noiselessly and continued toward its target.

Target: Male vampire hunter, low to medium sword skill, knows rudimentary elemental and holy magic.

Characterized by long black hair, handsome looks, and a tall but slightly thin build.

  Pseudonym "Kayne", real name unknown.

Relying on this information, Black Shadow - Ace Assassin Ajina had found the target of the assassination during the day and identified the room where the target was located.

Now, all that was needed was to slash the target's neck with the dagger while he slept, and the mission would be accomplished.

Soon he felt his way to the door of his target's room.

Yet the room was lit and the target was actually not sleeping.

Ajina had to lurk in the shadows outside the door, waiting for the moment when the lights went out and the snoring came out.

  ....

Wait until the sun is up ....

The first day's assassination failed because the target stayed up all night!

Ajna, helpless with a black eye, spent the day moving stone and waiting for night to fall again.

After dinner, he dragged himself to bed, and at midnight, barely refreshed, he put on his black clothes and grabbed his dagger and set off again.

Yet once again that bright light in the middle of midnight dispelled the darkness, leaving the assassin to retreat into the shadows and bide his time.

Chill is coming, this killer is a little cold.

But as a professional assassin, he has to endure.

  Another sleepless night.

The next day's assassination, a failure!

Ajina dragged a snotty nose and black eyes through another day of carrying rocks.

On the third night, it was business as usual, and the assassin, wrapped in a blanket, had become one with the shadows outside the door.

As the early morning sunlight hit him, he developed a feeling of being out of this world.

  Third day of assassination, failed!

Ajna, who had moved stone to the point of fuzzy consciousness, felt like he was going to die.

During the lunch break, the professional assassin, who had barely regained a little bit of his essence, suddenly thought, could that asshole be sleeping during the day like a vampire?

However after seeing the nobleman on the martial arts field who was alive with a silver sword, Ajina fell into despair.

This is not human! He hasn't slept in three days and still has the energy to practice his swordplay!

Seeing that the work of repairing the fence was nearing completion, about a day away, the ace assassin made a decision:

Tonight, whether this kid sleeps or not, he himself will cut him to death if he puts his life on the line!

When midnight came, the assassin had not only brought his dagger this time, but a steel sword on his back.

Originally, it was only as a precautionary measure that he had brought in the steel sword mixed in with the stone, but now it seemed that it could actually be used.

There's bound to be a commotion when you cut down that asshole kid who doesn't sleep. To kill with a steel sword in the midst of the chaos and leave behind an immortal assassin legend, that's what I, Ajina, will do tonight!

Before he left, he also pulled out the emblem of Assassin on his body and kissed the banshee's head on it, filling his heart with power.

So when he arrived on the second floor of the fortress and saw that the light, which seemed to last forever, had actually gone out, tears crossed the corners of his eyes.

Praise be to Assassin! One's prayers have finally been answered!

Ajina pushed down her excitement and quietly walked into the room.

Looking at the soundly sleeping figure on the buckskin bed, he gently drew his dagger and slowly approached.

Cover the mouth, cut the throat. These two actions are done in one go, and the next thing to do is to press the target's body to death, and feel the loss of life in the target's last dying struggle.

  Uh?

Originally, blood would have spurted out, and Ajina made a preemptive move to avoid it from spraying in her face.

However the target was very calm and there were no bruises on his white neck.

And the dagger made of fine steel in Ajina's hand actually .... curled its blade?

He immediately drew his steel sword from his back and slashed at his target's neck.

Yet the steel sword chipped away.

Professional assassins don't realize that the only silver weapon in the world that can hurt a True Vampire Ancestor is a silver weapon.

This is something, of course, that even this True Vampire Ancestor himself doesn't know about.

Speaking of which, Edward had gone to bed early today after finishing up the Medium Elemental Magic he'd been studying for the past few days.

In his sleep, he felt someone cover his mouth and then tickle his neck with something unknown.

When he was at Bluestar, the cat he had at home would occasionally sit on his face in the middle of the night, and his tail would wiggle around and sweep his neck.

As he tried to shoo the cat away, he suddenly realized something was wrong.

He was no longer in Bluestar, and the hand that covered his mouth was clearly a human hand!

Edward immediately woke up and swatted the man's hand away, then barked, "What do you want?!"

By this time the professional assassin's defenses were as thoroughly shattered as his weapons, and he cried out tearfully, "O monster!" and fled through the door.

By this time the patrolling hunters had been alerted and they blocked the way, Ajina's ambition to kill his way out of the fortress had long since been dashed, he panicked and ran down the stairs to the top of the fortress.

The hunters had surrounded him, forcing him to the edge of the platform.

The desperate ace assassin, who was on the verge of being captured, looked around and noticed a haystack underneath the fort.

It's a death sentence if you get caught anyway, so you might as well take a shot!

With his heart in his mouth, Ajina jumped as hard as he could toward the haystack.

Perhaps it was Lord Assassin's blessing that he landed accurately on the haystack.

Safe and sound .... That's not going to happen.

"What kind of asshole puts a pitchfork in a haystack!"

The professional assassin's life was saved, but he got two holes poked in his ass with a pitchfork.

Together with the original one, it became the "Three Star Cave of the Blood Moon".

However, this is no time to just be in pain.

Covering his injured buttocks, Ajina limped up the stones piled against the wall, then escaped over the wall.

The night, slightly cool, full of, hurt.

This incident was, in the end, treated by the hunters as an attempted burglary.

Although the "thief" was armed with a curled dagger and a slit steel sword, and was dressed like an assassin.

But having sneaked into a sleeping target's room and failing to assassinate? In a panic, he just covered the target's mouth and tickled his neck? How in the world can there be such a bad assassin?

However, the incident caused Edward enough alarm.

In his mind he decided it was a failed assassination.

And the reason for the assassination is mostly related to the identity of the original owner.

Since the original owner was a noble with power and wealth, he was bound to be coveted by others.

It seems that one has to figure out the identity of the original owner, or at least know what enemies one has in this world.

  Edward decided to visit Leonardo.
