Chapter 2 -  Moonlit Encounter

The following morning, Alex awoke with a start, covered in a cold sweat. The memories of his transformation under the full moon were still vivid in his mind. He sat up in bed, the fear of losing control over his lupine side gnawing at him.

Lily's voice filtered through his door. "Alex, are you awake?"

He cleared his throat and replied, "Yeah, I'm up. What's going on?"

His sister peeked her head into his room, her eyes filled with youthful curiosity. "Mom said we're having a new family move into the old Jenkins place. Their daughter is going to start school with us."

The mention of the new family piqued Alex's interest. He had always been intrigued by newcomers, their lack of knowledge about Eastwood's supernatural underbelly making them both fascinating and potentially dangerous.

Downstairs, the scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air. Alex's mother, Rachel, a warm and caring woman, greeted him with a smile as he entered the kitchen. "Morning, sweetheart. It's a beautiful day, isn't it?"

Alex nodded, masking the worries that churned within him. "Yeah, it is."

As the day progressed, the news of the new family's arrival was the talk of the town. Eastwood had a way of welcoming newcomers with polite curiosity, and the Jenkins family was no exception. People gathered at the town square, their whispers mixing with the soft sounds of a local musician playing an acoustic guitar.

The Jenkins' old Victorian house, which had stood empty for years, was a subject of fascination for everyone. Alex's eyes were drawn to the property, and his thoughts strayed to the girl he'd glimpsed in the woods last night.

Summer.

He couldn't help but wonder about her, the strange allure she held, and what connection her family might have to the supernatural world he was a part of. Could she be like him, harboring a secret? It was a thought that both excited and terrified him.

The day moved on, and as the sun dipped toward the horizon, the town square began to empty. People returned to their homes, leaving Alex to contemplate the mysteries of the night. He knew he needed to find answers, not only to his own struggles but also to the enigmatic presence of Summer.

As the moon slowly ascended, casting its silvery glow on the town, Alex decided to embark on a journey of discovery. With his werewolf senses heightened, he set off into the woods, guided by an instinct that he couldn't fully comprehend.

In the darkness, he hoped to find the source of the mysteries that had entered his life. The connection with Summer, the supernatural secrets they both harbored, and the threat that seemed to be closing in on them were threads of destiny that would soon weave a tale of love, danger, and the acceptance of the beast inside.
