Leo felt the chocking tension in the room, soon as he spoke. All of them already knew what Leo wanted to explain. They had been waiting for this explanation for three days, you could say the wait was exhausting.
Leo sat under the gaze of eager eyes, as he looked at their face, he realized that even if he hadn't proposed to explain things to them, they would have forced it out of him.
His eyes became resolute, looking at both of them, he spoke. "I want both of you to promise, promise that you will never expose my secret. For the sake of my safety." Leo spoke, his voice carrying a sincere plea, his eyes looking straight at them. He had entertained the thought of using a binding scroll, but he deleted such thought. These were his friends, so he decided to place his trust in them.
After he spoke, Sasha and Grey turned to look at themselves, the nodded at each other, and faced Leo.
"Even if for nothing, you saved both of us from certain death," Sasha took a slight pause, looking straight into the eyes of Leo she continued. "We owe you our lives, so for your secret, we will carry it to our graves." Her eyes were unwavering, her voice calm and confident.
Leo felt an unquestionable force in her voice, it proposed that no matter what he tells them now, they would never betray his trust, though he was uncertain if this was real or his mind morphing reality to fit his fantasy.
Leo decided to place complete trust in both of them, he internally agreed to tell them everything aside from the System. No matter how he tried to look at it, he felt the system was not to be exposed, not yet.
"Let me start from the beginning, where I got my abilities from." Leo began relaying the day on the mountain; the day the terror appeared, and almost killed him. "Somehow while I was within the terror, I unexpectedly awakened." Leo took a brief pause, looking at both his friends, whose eyes screamed for he to continue.
"My ability, compared to the norm is very different. I can gain new Mecha variations as I get stronger. What you saw that day was my emergency protocol. My tech demon transformation."
When Leo spoke the last words, both Sasha and Grey wanted to know more about this tech demon transformation. Grey decided to voice it out. "What exactly is a tech demon?"
Leo expected this question, as there had never been something of that sort. "It's the name of my ability." He answered calmly. "It somehow engraved itself in my mind."
Both of them had a look that said, so that's what it is. They finally understood the form he had transformed to; it was a demon.
Leo took a while giving explanations to them, answering their questions, all while removing the system from the conversation. Minutes later he ended his explanation. Both Sasha and Grey knew that Leo had told them something he wouldn't tell anyone. If the alliance knew about his ability, they would undoubtedly use him for experiments.
The image of Leo stuck to multiple machines crying out for help, but never receiving any, appeared in their minds. The alliance would probably say it was for the greater good of humanity, but that was all rubbish. The both of them where from families that had good influence, so they understood the workings of the alliance.
They two decided to keep Leo's secret no matter what happened. They were fond of him, and could not afford to let him become a lab rat.
When Leo finished his explanation, he felt as though the air had gone still, as both his friends were now in deep thought. Keeping quiet, he observed both of them, waiting to hear their responses.
After a short while, Grey broke the silence. "Damn bro, I can't believe you are a wimp, that couldn't even convey his feelings to a girl."
"Huh? What the fuck?" Leo wasn't expecting this to be the first thing that Grey would say. He was caught off guard.
Grey chuckled. He had a sly look on his face. "Sarah probably has a boyfriend now, and you are the one that saved her, but you couldn't tell her how feel. You let me down bro, don't you think so to Sas..." Grey suddenly felt a deathly chill, as he was about to finish his statement. He turned to his side, only to be asualted by a side stare that could rip through metal. He automatically shut up.
Leo was oblivious to the quick, deadly exchange that had taken place just now, his mind had drifted off when Grey mentioned the possibility of Sarah having a boy friend. He realized that this was a definite possibility, his heart thightened at this thought; what would he do if it was true.
"Hey bro, hey bro, hey bro." Grey kept calling out to Leo.
"What, what?" Leo said in a pissed tone.
"You zoned out." Great replied. " I was saying we should check into other academies for Sarah."
"Huh? We can't just leave school like that." Leo said, though the thought lingered in his mind.
"Seems you don't know yet, so let me feel you in on the details." Grey said. "The incident in the reserve led to the deaths of 18 students. The alliance tried to cover things up, but word got out that students were killed by terrors in an alliance training. The person didn't say it was a terror reserve though. Now the alliance announced a week long break in all academies, till everything clears up; the break began yesterday." Grey gave a general synopsis of events that had happened.
"18 dead," When Leo woke up, his stomach had churned, as he remembered he be-headed someone, his first time taking a human life. But at this moment he wished he had grinded the body of that person into paste, as this person leisurely took the lives of 18 kids. Leo was no hero or a just person, but he belived in an eye for an eye.
