"Everything was fine until about three weeks ago… The village farmers were heading to the field at dawn when they heard noises. Thinking nothing of it, they continued going. A few minutes later, the farmers were surrounded by monsters and were attacked. They all managed to escape but their injuries were serious.
The farmers are back in the village, being treated for their wounds." The young woman paused for a moment, she seemed frustrated. Nagishima was listening intently when he noticed her expression. He wanted to say something but chose not to, reasoning that letting her finish would make more sense.
"We have since then been trapped in the village due to the monsters on the outskirts of town. They even enter the village at night so we have to barricade ourselves inside our homes and hide quietly in the darkness. We know what will happen if we don't." Tora elaborated she then bit her lower lip, clearly approaching her limit.
"After about a week of this, we started running low on food. We had the fields but were unable to get to them. Having no medicine and the food running out, we had to make a decision. We visited the Chief and she told us of the mountain path which we could take without encountering monsters. We were told that there would be edible plants and birds to hunt. The last line of defense is Chisana, Pansa, Shion, and myself. They are depending on us." The lynx woman stated.
"What can we do? We can find the food but it won't be enough for everyone. How about medicine? We can't get any around here, we could in the capital but that's too far away and the farmers can't wait! Now, tell me. How can we save them?!" Tora finished her explanation unable to hold back her emotions any longer. She sounded angry and hurt by what had happened.
Nagishima slowly got up and placed a hand on her shoulder. The girl was puzzled by the act, she looked up at him with tears welling up. He had a reassuring smile, he then stated "You should thank the Master for us meeting, I can help with both of those." before going back to his seat.
