Chereads / Rebirth in the Other World as a Dragon / Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Leah

Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Leah

After the three fledgling dragons had finished their meal the lion scorpion had been reduced to a field of black crushed shells.

This time the lifting didn't have to be done, and lying on the floor, sleepiness hit me.

So sleepy, so eager to sleep.

It is the nature of a dragon to eat, drink, sleep and sleep.

  Struggling to hold himself up.

  The man stood up.

The dragon's body, which was holding a large round belly, wobbled a bit.

The dragon's head veered to look at Angela and Karel.

These two guys were facing the sky with their big bellies in big letters, like a dried up giant dragon stem.

A white and a blue dragon's tail were both swinging lazily.

Retracting his eyes he turned to his new home on the Rift Valley mountain wall.

  Go back to bed.

The dragon wings on his back unfolded.

The winged figure flew up into the sky.

Probably a bit too much food, the body just flew up and wobbled a bit unsteadily, as if it was going to fall down.

Accelerating and stirring the dragon's wings a few times, the figure stabilized before slowly lifting into the air.

Wobbling and flying all the way back to his new home.

Dropping onto the platform at the entrance of the cavern, August stood upright with a large belly and headed for the cavern's interior.

Walk inside the cave and then just lay down.

  Close your heavy eyelids.

Sleepiness came all at once in this moment.

  Breathing slowly became steady.

  August is asleep.

When a dragon falls into a deep sleep, its body absorbs the energy from its body faster and uses it as a base to strengthen itself.

The more energy contained in what you eat then the longer you sleep and the more growth you gain.

  ...

The early morning sunlight refracted down the attic window into the room landing on the cot bed.

The room was small, and there wasn't much other space for a small bed built of wooden planks.

Standing for a maximum of two people would make it look crowded.

  "Bang Bang Bang~!"

A rough knock sounded at the door, and the poor wooden door of the room swung open.

"Leah! Damn it! You've been slacking off again!"

The woman's gruff voice growled up at the door.

"In two minutes you better get your ass downstairs and go chop wood in the yard! If I don't see you chopping wood in the yard in two minutes then you won't be eating today!"

"Damn! You're really getting lazy lately."

"Raising you is a waste of my family's food~"

  Aunt Bella's voice faded away.

A small, thin hand reached out from the colorless linen quilt and grasped the corner.

  The quilt lifted.

A girl who looked like she was about eight years old sat up.

She had long, nice soft blonde hair, thin features, and wide, thin, old clothes that fit over her slightly bony body.

This is a little girl that makes your heart ache just looking at her, she looks as if the wind will blow her over.

Sitting up, Leah looked out the window.

Looking out at the sunny weather.

  It's a new day again.

By the way, today is an important day.

Leah remembered what her mentor had explained yesterday.

  Can't be late today.

Because she woke up every day and was assigned various tasks by her aunt, Leah walked in late almost every day.

Luckily, Mentor Erin was a good person and didn't pursue the matter of her tardiness once she understood the situation.

It will even be thoughtful enough to make up for your missing homework each time.

Mentor Erin she is such a gentle person.

  Slapped his cheeks.

  Consciousness became more awake.

Taking a step in his slippers, he reached up and took the white uniform of the academy from the wall.

Changing into her uniform, she spun in place, fiddling with the hem of her skirt.

Leah had a contented smile on her face.

  It's her only new dress.

Every time she puts on her academy uniform, Leah is happy.

Well, now it's time to go downstairs and wash up.

  Oh yeah, and chopping wood.

If I hadn't finished chopping, my aunt would certainly not have let herself go to the academy again.

I'm sure I'll be late again by then.

  No, can't be late today.

Thinking about it, Leah's pace quickened.

  Walk down to the attic.

"Come on~ Baby open your hands, mommy will dress you~"

  "Mmmm~ So good~"

  "Lift down the other one~"

At the couch in the living room, Auntie was dressing Dal again.

Dar's bulbous body was stretching the dress out a little.

That said, has Dal gained weight again? It's getting more and more like Auntie.

The thought had just popped into Leah's head and she wasn't caring.

Because she had to catch a break too.

Bella, who was dressing her son, skimmed the floor at the sound of voices coming down the stairs.

It's that Leah girl, she's washing up.

Seeing this Bella withdrew her gaze and continued to dress her baby.

As long as the girl isn't slacking off.

After a quick wash Leah walked out into the yard and picked up the axe on the wooden pier.

The axe is not very large and is of a child's style.

  Put the wood away.

The axe was raised high above his head in a fluid chop.

The sharp blade of the axe broke through the wood in the center.

The wood that had been turned in half landed next to the right and left side of the wooden pier.

It's not a big piece of wood, so splitting it in half is fine.

Replace the new wood and repeat what you just did.

  "Pah~!"

The last timber was split in half.

No axe was drawn from the wooden pier.

Leah looked up at the sky.

The sun had risen a lot.

Seems like we're going to be late again.

Realizing this Leah rushed into the house in a fiery rage.

Inside the house Aunt Bella and Uncle and Dar were sitting around the table eating breakfast.

"Aunt Bella, I'm done chopping wood for the day~"

  "Hmm~"

Aunt Bella, who was munching on white bread, responded and ignored it.

To which Leah had long since grown accustomed.

Reaching over, he picked up the pumpernickel bread from the plate that belonged to him on the table.

"Then Aunt Bella and Auntie, Leah went to the Academy."

After a quick hello Leah turned and left.

She knew that her aunt and uncle would not respond to her.

  After Leah left.

"It's a shame this girl goes to school."

"Why don't girls stop going to school?"

The man across the street stopped eating.

"Bella, that was the deal, that lord gave us the money and the only request made was that she had to go to school"

Discontent showed on Bella's obese face.

"What are you afraid of? He doesn't know."

"Why are you so gutless! What a loser."

"What's that girl going to do at a fancy college?"

"Wouldn't it be nice to save that money for our baby's future schooling?"

The voice gradually went from low to growling.

Connie paid no attention to his wife's rant.

He was in charge of the family's finances, and as long as he didn't give the nod, his wife couldn't do much.

This thought of his wife's Connie had risen, too, and more than once.

  But he knew he couldn't.

Because the other person is a nobleman.

Breaking a pact with a nobleman is stupid.

If it weren't for the fact that Bella had given herself a son, Connie would have repudiated the fat bitch.

  It's just stupid.

Eating while enduring the sound of his wife's growls.

After finishing his bread, Connie stood up.

"Connie you're a gutless piece of shit!"

Connie left the house to the sound of his wife's ranting.

He was a city defense officer.

Duties are responsible for managing access to the gates.

The rights of the position are arguably optional, but that's at least it's a decent job.

At first that nobleman offered to be able to fulfill one of Connie's requests.

  Connie made the request.

  A decent job.

So he took the position of city defense officer that day.

  ...
