Chapter 112 - Assistance

Red and Smiling stared at the armored being that then took down another giant. "Should we interfere?" Smiling. " I have a feeling we just got a glimpse at what the Sword King does with his knights? That was enchanted armor of high quality?" Red exclaimed puzzled. To him the armor felt familiar to the chi it gave off. And the fact the armor looked like a dragon. "We should follow his rampage" Red exited the alleyway. Smiling followed suit as they watched from afar the rampaging knight taking down giants with his armor. He also took hundreds of automatons that began attacking him. He cut them all to pieces and crushed their bodies. He drove a big clawed foot into one's chest before taking to the sky again.

When he finally landed on a street and was in front of the gate. He held up a hand and a beam of energy erupted from his hand. The gate exploded into pieces and from the giant hole poured in an army of knights. They met a little resistance when automatons began to come at them. They took them down as a unit and kept moving. When they met up with the armored man. "Shit. Right in the thick of it now" Red then unsheathed Black Brand upon his belt.

Smiling sheathed his battle axe and was now holding Devil Horn. "Should we go find the Sun Demon before we confront them?" Smiling suggested as they were still out of sight from the army. "Alright we head east and bypass the machine, soldiers are out of time and we need to get some reinforcements. We play it safe again like we did with Cornelius" they backed away and started heading east on the main street. They finally put some distance from the army and began searching for people to follow.

After about twenty minutes they finally found a large group moving through the city towards one direction. At an abandoned bar with an old neon sign that was broken and rusted. The bar name from what Red could make was the 'Oasis' people rushed into the building becoming shrouded in darkness after entering the abandoned building. Red and Smiling approached a member of Scarab's crew with a demon mask standing outside the bar. "Halt!" he said to them, reaching for his pistol on his belt. Red and Smiling held up hands to show nonaggression. "We're only here to see the Sun Demon," Red explained.

The man faltered, "Stay here" he told them as he went inside. After a few minutes he came back with Scarab. "What are you two doing here?" he asked confused. No one should know where they are, but it dawned on him as he looked at the people coming into the building. He shook his head and changed his tone when an explosion erupted in the middle of the city. The three stared at the plume of fire reaching to the sky. "The army has breached the city" Red explained. Scarab nodded at this and looked concerned. "We need to see your boss?" this broke Scarab from his thoughts. "She's not here. Hasn't been seen for awhile. I'd go look for her myself, but she said the people were priority" this took Red by surprise.

"What do you mean?" his mind began to turn thinking of Sun Demon missing. How could she be missing when she seemed so skilled and powerful. She couldn't have been an easy person to take down. And yet she was missing and not even her second could explain that. "Where did she go?" Red asked. Scarab shrugged, "I don't know. She left saying she was off to find information on why the king wasn't having any action towards the invading army. Which we now know what's happening" he pointed to a giant that was engaging the army. Red and Smiling looked at the giant and nodded understanding his meaning. "Okay then we need to find her and we're gonna need your help" Scarab nodded at this. "I'll leave half my men here and we will go with you" he told him. He gestured to the gatekeeper and they spoke quietly. "Go get four men and come back. The rest need to get everyone in the Hideout and lock the door behind them. They know what to do after that" his man nodded and left going into the dark building. Scarab pulled his mask off his belt and checked his gun. "So where do you want to start?" Scarab cocked his head to Red's question. "Probably the palace. No one in our circle has the strength to take her on. With the prince dead the king probably has her? Only people with the power to detain her" He holstered his gun. 'Sounds logical to me' Scarab gestured for them to follow.

They headed to a garage and inside was a custom made black tank with machine guns mounted on the sides of the front, a large barrel that extended out, four separated road wheels, and a silver demon painted upon its black color. "Gentleman meet my baby. A master work of machinery meets magic. Being a magus I put spells into this baby and enchanted the barrel to fire elemental attacks from the cockpit. Takes six men to run it during battle. So it will be a bit cramped so hope no one has trouble with small spaces" Smiling seemed to cringe at that notion.

Draven stood with his second as his knights battled all around. The giants in heaps of scrap and metal ablaze upon crushed buildings illuminated the steps to the palace. Tin men poured from it taking positions having the high ground they fired down on the knights. A row of them stood as a shield wall while Draven stared up at the palace. 'I'm still recovering chi after using the armor. I'm at a disadvantage at the moment. Could use sword aura on these insects. But I need all the power I have to fight the king? Till the pill kicks in my chi is only at half power' He then turned to his second. "How about you go berserk upon these soldiers Rex?" The second named Rex chuckled under his helmet. "Commander I thought you'd never ask!" He then laughed maniacally as he became coated in red chi. He held in his hands the battle axes.

"Step aside, men. Time to watch the bear hunt!" He said with a growl. Steam started to come from his mouth causing his appearance to become all the more horrifying adding bright red eyes through his visor for the final touch. Causing fear to seep into the Tin men hiding behind barriers. He then shot into the air and high above the Tin men he slashed at them as an arch of chi came from his axe blade. It exploded cutting through the stairs and killing the men.

They became blind by dust and debris till Rex landed with a big boom and shook the stairs. He then began killing everyone brutally with his axes. He cut them in half, beheaded, stabbed, and maimed as he made his way up the stairs. He kicked men aside and crushed others under foot. All while laughing with pure joy.

This man in the chivalry realm was well known and was a grotesque example of a knight. And yet he rose through the ranks with his Bedlam element, a berserker with only one obsession; blood. He was a knight no one wanted on their team. All but one chose him simply because he was a trump card to be used. Draven was that team leader who saw him as nothing more than a sword to use and Rex was happy to be that sword. Forever loyal to Draven from that point he was a team player. And Draven knew he had to be thrown a bone once in a while. So this little exercise was a gift in Rex's eyes. The Tin men tried to scream and run. But they all fell to the axe of Rex. He stood at the top of the stairs triumphant and gave a roar of satisfaction.

What he didn't notice and what no one else did was the black tank coming up behind them. But they noticed too late when a loud bang broke their attention on Rex to the source of the noise. But they should have kept watching Rex. Because the projectile was aimed at him. And it met its mark. He exploded into a red mist and destroyed the top steps. Rex the berserker was no more.

And now the tank fired upon the knights creating pandemonium. Draven was hit with the explosion flinging him backwards into other knights. His vision blurred he saw a man with a red demon mask running towards his men. Following him was a big man with a smiling demon mask
