Chapter 106 - Secret Invasion

They followed the group to an abandoned warehouse. And that's when Red felt another group of presences not far following them. 'Man company all over the place' he thought as he gestured for them to hide till the followers came into view. They were shrouded in shadow and waited quietly and suppressed their chi to erase all presence. They then saw a group of ten led by Scarab dawning his demon mask. 'Sun demon perhaps?' He thought. They then watched as they snuck into the abandoned building with tremendous stealth making no sounds at all.

Using the shadows and darkness around him Red closed his eyes and looked through the shadows. He could see silhouettes of the knights versus Scarab and company. He could see all cut down quickly and quietly leaving only the guild member and two knights alive. The guild member was maimed losing his arm. He held it and screamed at its absence.

He writhed in pain screaming, "Now I can sleep at night knowing I dispatched you! You got away at the Green Gecko but now?" He stood over him staring down at the injured man with his demon mask. "Now I can look my leader in the eye knowing any who manufactured Bliss were dispatched" he then drove his wakizashi into his neck.

He then turned a heel and looked at the two knights. They were stoic and had blood coming down their faces. Their clothes were disheveled. And they were being held by Scarab's men. "So who might you gentlemen be? Thinking of getting into the drug game? Or cooking something else?" He asked. He slapped the flat part of his blade against the back of his neck as he cocked his head to the side.

One of the knights scowled with anger, "Just fucking kill us. Tired of listening to you…" with a loud ring of metal as the wakizashi sliced through the loud mouth's neck. "See now he clearly had the wrong play here? What might you think? Do you wanna take his lead?" He let the fate of his friend sink in. The man paused thinking when Scarab interrupted his thoughts. "You're thinking of a way to get out of this? But I can promise you the only way out is to talk so what'll it be?" The knight nodded, "Fine I'll talk" he said.

Scarab spun his blade about and sheathed it to his belt, "Fantastic. So who the hell are you?" The Knight paused, "I am a member of a legion led by the First Blade servant to the Sword King. Outside these walls is an army marching upon this city. Even if I tell you this it won't do you any good. Me and my companions are only one of a dozen groups that have infiltrated this city. You just happened to catch us when we were meeting with our informant who came to betray this city. Seems you took care of that by killing him" knight pointed to the dead guild member. He paid no mind. Scarab's eyes were bulging under the mask. 'A damn army is heading here?' He thought.

"You said a legion? Why are you marching against the Topaz King? Aren't the king's allies?" The knight shook his head. "It appears not any more. As to the reasons why?" He shrugged. "Above my pay grade" he confessed. "I thought you knights were all chivalrous and held honor like it's some fragile thing? But you spilled your guts compared to that guy?" Scarab stared at him with confusion. "Are you playing mind games or some shit? I live. I tell you the information and I get to bail this city before everything goes down. Stop with mockery bullshit. Honor doesn't fill the pockets" Scarab nodded. He could respect that and hell he could definitely identify with his principles. But too many "ifs" to let him live. Scarab then pulled out his gun and shot him in the head. "Damn! Warn a guy!" one of the masked men shouted, dropping the knight's body from his grasp. "Sorry for that and him. But we can't trust that he wasn't playing us" the others nodded. "Scarab's right. Let's head back" Red Demon heard and saw everything.

"Well it seems there is trouble in paradise with the Void Faction. And the group were hiding from work for the Sun Demon. So I say we take a little hostage?" Smiling nodded. "You think a minion will make them come after us so we can talk? Hell they might not like us taking one of their guys?" Red Demon shrugged.

"Got to make contact somehow. And from the looks of it time isn't on our side at the moment. So best to get this ball rolling?" Smiling saw his point, thinking it over. "Alright well no killing then" Red Demon nodded. "That I can promise. Just snatch and grab. We'll get them alone. The leader is who I'm interested in" he pointed at the Scarab group exiting the warehouse.

"Ah the one with the jacket? Dude's got style" Smiling said peeking behind a corner. The group then walked down an alleyway. Heading into the city. Red and Smiling weren't far behind. They kept to the shadows and the group headed to a market where they promptly took off their masks and hid them away. Revealing their faces, Scarab greeted vendors with a smile as they approached them. The whole group were immersed in the people talking and laughing with them as they passed them by.

'Seems they're well known in this city. So the regular people are on the side of the Sun Demon along with the criminals? Seems they have merged into one entity." He then looked back and lit up the side of the city that were towering buildings and looked more richly. 'Not completely one I suppose' Scarab and company headed to a bar. Smiling and Red followed weaving through the crowd. Red Demon had his hood up hiding his horns. They headed to a bar where they found the group sitting in the back drinking. The two entered the bar and made it to the back. "So what now?" Smiling asked as they approached the bar. "Simple. We have a drink and when we leave the leader I assume will follow. No way that guy didn't see us coming. He found those knights easily enough" Red Demon ordered a beer and Smiling did the same. "How do you come up with these schemes?" Smiling. Red Demon shrugged, pulling down his mask and taking a drink.

Scarab walked to the end of the bar and his eyes stared at the two demons. Bartender approached, "Who are they? Never seen them before?" Scarab gestured to the two demons. "No idea. Just came in a few minutes ago. They're here alone and ordered a couple of drinks" the bartender shrugged. Scarab nodded and took his new drink.

"Thanks" he set two gold coins setting them upon the bar. The bartender took the money and gave him a nod. 'Those might be knights scoping the place?' He approached his table. "Two look to be knights. Head back to the hideout and warn Sun. I'll follow them and keep communication open. The others nodded and slowly left the bar.

Red Demon glanced seeing this unfold. "Best we head out. Exit in the back" Red threw down some coins and they both weaved through the crowd to a red sign in the back. They exited to an alleyway and headed down it. Red Demon pulled out Moon Ray from his belt. Smiling enlarged his axe.

They turned a corner and close behind was Scarab as he put on his demon mask. He could see the chi trail they left. He could see their footprints leading down the alleyway. He gripped his wakizashi. He followed the trail and turned the corner to see nothing. They had disappeared from sight, their footprints leading in opposite directions. "Shit" he said as he felt two presences coming at him in different directions.
