Lad saw the tall towers with angels flying about. A giant tower was in the middle of them all towering over them reaching to the open canopy of the city. Lad was in awe at the architecture and scale of the city. As the traversed the streets he could see some angels homeless with missing wings only left one pair the smallest. They lay in alleyways beaten and starving. A child Angel in fine robes ran by throwing a rock at one. The a group formed with angels also in fine robes joining. Lad could see why they were doing this the Angel in question was different from them. It had black hair and green eyes. The blonde little angels all chased after a kid with red hair that also homeless missing wings and running for his life. Lad asked one of the guards, "why are the children hurting those people?" One guard grunted, "They do not simbalize our image of pure light. They have deformities that keep them from using the element so their for shunned by society" as they kept walking they came to crucified Angel. It was naked and covered in gold blood. It's feet and hands had spikes through them. The wings were fanned our with them pinned to boards that lined the post. 'These people are cruel' Lad thought. One guard saw him lingering, "he disobeyed the laws by laying with an impure. He tried to keep them safe by killing members of my guard. His family will suffer the same fate when we find them" one of the twins said. Lad looked away 'this city should burn' he thought. He kept his anger in check. "Who permits these laws of pure and impure? Aren't elements make us all individuals do they not?" Lad stated prying into the twins' views. One laughed, "we here can wield the element of light and flame like our king. He sets the example we all must lead. He is our savior after all and sovereign to which we serve. All those who do not possess these two elements are not worthy of our lord's love" Lad inwardly mocked his warped sense of morality. 'Rumors of this place were exaggerated. My grandfather use to tell me stories about the realms through his prison cell. I hope he is doing well he need not wait much longer for my return I hope' Lads mind thought about his old grandfather the only comfort after his mother who he would sneak to his cell and give him food for a story.
"We could kill them, but they are examples of what will suffer the who is impure" this broke Lad from his happy thoughts. It then made he want to kill them all there, but fought the urge.
They finally came to a nicer part of the city compared to outskirts by the gate. It was cleaner and almost everyone looked the same all dawned in fine garbs bustling about the city market, shops, and taverns. Some were flying about above the group walking towards the middle tower steps.
They were long leading to tall pillars holding over hang up. Guards were stationed at the top of the stairs patrolling. The walked up the flight of stairs and pass through the giant marble pillars into a hall. They took a left down a long hallway to take right leading to another.
This led to a throne room with a projection of Galaxy above on the domed ceiling. Stairs leading up to a throne and guards circling the room above and on foot. Lad took a deep breath as he came into the middle of the room. Seated on the throne a man wearing a sun mask that has a reflection of a mirror with small blac cracks breaking the silver sheen of the mask. A mood of a static face was in the middle of the rays around the mask.
He was dawned in silver and gold robes with bronze jewelry around his neck and hands. Lad noticed he had the rest of head covered behind the mask.
Through the sockets he could see glowing yellow eyes staring down at him. Next to the throne rested a king katana with a golden hilt and black scabbard. 'That must be Sun Shard' he thought eye balling the sword. "Well boys who have you brought me?" The men all bowed and one twin stepped forth. "We have brought you a message my liege he carries a messenger stone for you?" The twin said with a bow gesturing to Lad. "Is that so?"
The king gestured for him to step forth. Lad came to the base of the stairs holding up the gem. "Who is the message from?" He asked. Lad put a fake facade bowing before answering. "My liege it is from the World itself" he held out the gem towards the king. The king seemed speechless and his body flinched at the name. The twin guards noticed this and looked tense.
The king slowly rose stepping away from his throne and sword. He seemed hesitant to take the gem. "So…the World has sent me a message? The King's Test draws near and a Slayer chosen unknown to all. This is a bad omen indeed. Are you a messanger employed to deliver this? Never thought mere mortals like yourself would be privileged to do so?" Lad could feel all guards staring at him. Lad didn't seem troubled by this question. "I am kin to Raijin" he exclaimed. The king seemed to relax at this. "Raijin the Lightning Tengu? That Raijin?" The king asked. Lad nodded. "You are lucky indeed to be given such station" he turned to walk back to his throne. He stared at the gem. Lad could sense he was using chi to test out its contents. He seemed satisfied as he sat down. He then clenched the gem and heard one sentence echo in his Mind Palace. "BEWARE THE RED DEMON" he seemed to drop the gem and mumbled out, "Beware…the Red…Demon? What message is that!" He looked visible upset clenching his fists as his aura broke out cracking the very steps and throne.
Hearing this words Lad went into action. Manifesting blades all over the throne hovering above everyone and everyone looked surprised. Blades then shot in all direction like wasps killing the hovering angels. Blades dropped down like spikes impaling, stabbing, slashing, skewering, and beheadng all guards. The twins were left unscathed on purpose. Lad didn't move a muscle the whole time the blades killed everyone in the throne room. Shadows rhen crawled the walls leading only the galaxy as illumination. Lad sank into a shadow from his feet and was gone. The twins and the king were all that remained within the tomb of darkness. The king gripped the handle of the Sun Shard. Soles of his boots started to glow with light and as he hovered above his throne. He unsheathed the blade it's edge glowing yellow. The twins unsheathed their swords. "Who are you!" The king yelled into the dark room. Not even an echo could be heard.
Stepping from the shadows Lad was dawned in all his garb with the sigil visible for all to see. Upon his face was a red oni mask with horns. The dark sockets stared coldly at the three.
The King Slayer had come to test the King.
