"Let me walk her downstairs and then I'll be back, " Levi said to Eliot. He sighed and shook his head at his friend.
To Eliot, Levi's priorities were not set straight. He was about to be kicked out of school and all he could think about was how he was going to score pussy for the night.
He could have expressed these concerns but he chose to keep silent. It wasn't his life that was on the line anyway. Plus, Levi was too stubborn for his own good.
"Fine but don't stay too long. For the record, she doesn't look like the type to sleep with you for one night and then forget the next day. "
Levi hit his friend on the shoulder to tell him that he was out of line. That had been the last thing on his mind when he offered to walk Kylie outside. He only wanted to know more about demons.
"Get your mind out of the gutter. I only wanted to be polite. I need more friends. Not every girl wants me like that. "
Eliot scoffed and urged Levi to go.
"Don't keep her waiting any longer. She might leave without you. " Kylie definitely liked Levi. Eliot could see it. She was blushing way too much.
He was happy for Levi. At least this was a girl that was in his league and she didn't have a powerful, possessive, and crazy boyfriend.
Levi rushed to Kylie and took her books from her hands. He had never carried books for a girl before but he had seen guys do it back on Earth.
It apparently made girls swoon.
"Tell me more about demons. I have always been fascinated by them. Why are they so evil and black? " Levi asked making Kylie laugh.
"I thought you were joking when you said you wanted to hear me talk all about everything I knew. "
"Why? You don't know what I like. Maybe that is what I like to research on during my free time. "
This was the first time a guy had shown interest in Kylie's books. They never understood her. To find a guy that wanted to hear her ramble about her passions was rare to find.
So, she didn't waste any time.
"Demons are described as many things. They are considered evil spirits, fallen angels, or pawns of Satan. "
"And are they pawns of Satan? " Levi asked. He had asked to hear her ramble but she was rumbling unimportant information. If she wasn't so pretty, he may have been rude to her.
"No. "
"Then what are they really? I mean according to the books you have read and not hearsay. "
"Demons are creatures full of evil and darkness. They have supernatural abilities like shapeshifting and whatnot. From what I have read, there are various kinds. "
Kylie looked at Levi to make sure he was still listening to her. Guys were known to pretend to be listening to girls when they weren't.
To her surprise, Levi was listening to her intently. He was even waiting for him to continue talking so she went on without keeping him waiting. He seemed kind of impatient.
"Demons—"
"Kylie? "
"Yes?"
"Don't stop talking again. Just talk until you can't anymore. "
"They live in colonies and they live according to their abilities. For example, succubus moves in colonies of succubus. They also consume souls to survive and gain more power. The more souls they consume the more powerful they become. "
"That is basically all you need to know about them. I have read a lot about them but I can't remember much. I'm sure I'll remember soon, though. "
Levi was disappointed, to say the least. He had gotten his hopes for nothing. It had been foolish of him to assume that she would remember everything she had read. Now it was back to the library to read books he wouldn't finish.
By the time he finished, the Mother of Demons would have already found him.
"Thank you for the information. I had fun walking you to the door. We should do this again. You can tell me more about demons. "
Kylie smiled and nodded her head. It may have been an excuse for Levi to hang out with her but she was happy he at least pretended to like what she liked.
He was a good person in contrast to the bad boy reputation they were trying to give to him. He hadn't even made a sexual move on her.
'I would really like that. What time should we meet for that? " She asked.
Before Levi could answer her, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. He knew then that she had remembered something.
"Oh wait! I remembered something. There is a book that claims that demons are birthed by the Mother of Demons. All demons that exist come from her. I read more about her and I saw it claiming her name is Lilith. "
"Apparently, everything they do is per her command. She keeps them on a dark planet very far from here where the sun doesn't even reach because they are agitated by light. They are said to be extremely loyal to her. "
"They will kill anyone who attempts to hurt her. Whenever a demon decides to leave her flock, she can wait until the demon uses their powers to track them and then kill them if they refuse to go with her."
"The book claims that when demons consume a soul, they leave a mark on the victim unique to them. Every demon has its own marker. Isn't that fascinating? Too bad none of it is true. Do you think it could be? "
Levi wasn't listening. His heart was racing. He had gotten all the information he needed and he didn't what he heard. If this Lilith was protected by her demons, how was he supposed to escape her wrath?
She must have sensed his power. Didn't that mean that he would never escape her?
"It doesn't sound real," Levi said. It turned out that Kylie was useful after all.
"Say what? You can write me five facts three times a day about demons and then hand them to me and we will decide which we think is true or not. Maybe we can even write a book. "
He was joking about the last part only.
It was a stupid idea but he knew Kylie was happy to do that. She loved those things way too much to resist and he needed all the information he could get.
