Chapter 7 - Cora

"How the fuck am I going to beat Dickie in a fight? " Levi asked himself out loud. He sat on the bed and started to formulate a plan but every single one ended up with him bleeding out on the floor.

Dickie could kill Levi in a fight. He was ten times bigger and stronger than him and he had experience in fighting. When Levi saw that he wasn't getting anywhere, he sighed and got into bed.

His uniform was on the bed and it consisted of all back. There was a black pair of pants, and a black long-sleeved shirt. There were also black boots to go with the attire. Levi put it on the table in the room.

The study table was small and it even had a chair. The table was convenient for placing items on. There was a wardrobe in the room but Levi wasn't used to such things.

He closed his eyes and tried to sleep but he couldn't because there was a lot on his mind. No matter how much he tossed and turned, he couldn't get his body to relax. His roommate was sound asleep and he was jealous.

Tired of trying to get himself to sleep, he got up, sat on his bed, and took out the red pill his body rejected. The more he looked at the pill the more he got suspicious. Why were they being forced to take them?

First they were told they could do magic even though they didn't have advanced cells for it and then they were given pills. Levi suspected the pills were meant to mutate their cells so they would be able to do magic.

"Why not just tell us about it? "

Maybe the pills had side effects. Whatever the deal with the pill was, he concluded it wasn't any of his business. His body was not going to consume the pill anyways.

All that thinking was making him yawn so he caved, got into bed, and slept.

A couple of hours later, an announcement was heard through the speakers.

"All students are required to wake up and go for breakfast. Your schedules are on the mart watches that will be given to you outside your room. "

Levi got up despite feeling tired and wanting to go back to bed. He wore his uniform and left the room immediately. He was handed his watch that he put around his wrist and followed the line to the cafeteria.

"How was your night? " Eliot asked as he came to stand beside Levi. Unlike the previous day, Levi was happy to see Eliot. He needed all the friends he could get to face Dickie.

"Okay. You?"

Eliot nodded his head and walked forward to take his food. They followed one another to the table they had sat at the previous day. When they sat down, Eliot looked around and leaned in.

"Why do you think we have black uniforms? " Eliot asked as he looked around. All the questions he was asking were starting to annoy Levi.

"To tell apart us from citizens of this planet. "

"I don't believe that they want to help us. I think they will use us as slaves and puppets."

"I think so–"

"Hey! "

Levi looked at the girl who had just interrupted them. He swallowed and got all nervous. There was a pink tint on his cheeks showing how embarrassed he was to see her.

Memories of Dickie embrassing him in front of her were plaguing him like a disease.

"H-Hey, " Levi answered and glanced at Eliot. The girl put her tray on the table and sat down next to Levi. Her bright white attire–a replica of their black ones–made everyone at the cafeteria look at them.

The girl was sitting and everyone knew it. The trio didn't know it yet but there was a group of students frowning about the little get-together.

Levi couldn't deny that the girl was pretty but he didn't want her to talk to him. She attracted attention that Levi did not need.

Sunaru was her planet and that to him meant they couldn't be friends.

"I didn't catch your name yesterday. "

"L-Levi. "

"My name is Cora. What is the name of your friend? "

Eliot answered for himself but you could see that he wanted Cora gone. He didn't trust her because he couldn't find a reason about why she was talking to Levi.

"Are you nervous about your first day? You'll be fine. The professors are talented and nice. You should watch out for the elements teacher, though. "

Then Cora started giving them more tips and telling them who they should avoid. The boys were listening attentively like they couldn't even look away.

"Tell us about magic, " Eliot said.

"There are many types of magic that we know about. There is elemental magic, telekinesis, telepathy, necromancy, and more. You will have to try everything and then find something that suits you. You have to let the magic choose you. "

"What is your expertise? "

"Telekinesis and earth magic. "

The three were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn't notice a group of guys coming their way.

"Cora, stand up. " One of the four guys standing by their table said. Levi recognized him immediately. He was one the guys that had drugged him on Earth to bring him to this new planet.

"Roman, please. We'll talk about this later. "

But Roman wasn't listening to her. He grabbed her arm and pulled her to stand.

Without thinking, Levi stood to defend her. The whole cafeteria was looking at them now. Roman looked at the boy who dared try to defy him like he was trash.

"Listen to free advice, kid. Stay away from me and my girlfriend. Stay in your lane. In here, you're just a weak and useless individual. "

Cora didn't look like she wanted to be defended. Her eyes were downcast even as Roman talked to Levi. When Levi saw this, he sat back down on his seat and looked at his food like it was interesting.

Eliot was watching the whole interaction silently. He was going to defend Levi but not against people he couldn't defeat.

As soon as they were gone, he grabbed Levi's hand in a rough manner.

"Do not talk to that girl ever again. "

Levi grinded his teeth together in anger.

"Leave me alone–"

"Do you want to die and drag us both down with you? No. Stay away from her. She's trouble. "

Levi chose that moment to look at the table on the other side of the cafeteria where Cora was sitting.
