Chapter 22 - Ch. 22

The next day when the nurses removed Green's bandages to replace them they saw that the smaller cuts were already healed and the larger ones had already scabbed over. After the nurses informed the doctor Green was examined closely and new X-rays were taken, that's when Green's told everyone that he had always been an incredibly fast healer.

The new X-rays showed that even the broken bones were already showing signs of healing back together. Based on the speed he was healing the doctor predicted that Green could be safely discharged within a week. Green and Emily were both incredibly surprised at this news as they expected Green to be laid up in the hospital for 2-3 weeks.

When they were alone with just Jake they discussed how the lowest quality berry from the system had more than doubled the healing speed of Green's injuries. After they had talked all of that through Emily brought up Jake's school needs.

"Jake's first day of Trainer School is coming up soon. Since we are already so close to Celadon City I thought we could all stop at the department store for his school shopping after you are discharged."

Green nodded.

"That's a good idea Em. If there is anything else we need we can pick that up at the same time."

Green thought for a moment.

"If I'm remembering right it's almost Ash's birthday. We should get him a present while we are there as well. How old is he turning again?"

"He's turning 5. Gary and Daisy are also turning 5 soon, only three months from now. We can get all three of their presents while we are there."

Emily pulled out her phone and sent a group message to Beth and Delia giving them an update on Green and her plans to go shopping at the Celadon department store. Then asking about recommendations for presents for their kids birthdays.

They each sent back a message about being glad Green was doing well as well as a few gift options for Emily to choose from. Closing her message app she saw it was getting late so she decided to end their visit for the day. On the short walk to the hotel Jake asked his mom a question.

"Mommy how many Pokemon have you scanned into your Pokedex?"

"I've scanned all 148 Pokemon from the Kanto region into my Pokedex. Your father has all of them as well."

"148? But the other Jake's memories say there are 151 Pokemon in the Kanto region."

Emily was surprised and a little confused by this.

"No sweetie. There are only 148 Pokemon. I'll show you my Pokedex when we get to our room."

A few minutes later when they were in the room Emily reached into her bag and pulled her Pokedex out of her Item Box while her hand was hidden from Jake's view. Giving it to him she sat him on her lap as he flipped from one Pokemon entry to the next. When he got to Dragonite he tried to flip to the next but that was the end.

"See Jake, only 148 Pokemon."

He looked at her before he flipped back to the entry for Lapras and flipped back and forth a couple of times between Lapras and Eevee.

"There are three Pokemon missing. Ditto, Mewtwo, and Mew."

"I've never heard of two of those but how do you know about Mew? They are extinct and no fossils have ever been found to even prove they existed, making most believe that their existence is a myth."

Jake just looked at Emily for a minute before he closed his eyes. Keeping his eyes closed he spoke.

"Mew does exist and at least one is still alive. Fossils have been found but as they have only been fragments they were discarded as unimportant. The largest fossil fragment is in the possession of Team Rocket and they are studying it, hoping to use it's DNA to create an unbeatable Pokemon. The will eventually succeed, giving life to a new Pokemon, the Pokemon will be named Mewtwo."

Emily was speechless as she listened to Jake. The thought that he had so much knowledge about the future scared her, not to say she was scared of him but for him. If anyone found out about his knowledge of the future they would do everything in their power to get ahold of him. Placing a hand on each of his shoulders she made him look at her.

"Jake I need you to promise mommy something."

He looked at her with his young and innocent eyes and nodded.

"Don't ever tell anyone, except mommy and daddy, about what you see in the other Jake's memories. Okay?"

"Okay mommy. I promise."

He held out his pinky finger and Emily wrapped hers around his in a pinky promise. Giving him a light kiss on his forehead she moved him off her lap as she ordered pizza for delivery.

'Allister, is what he said true about Mew?'

'I have no way to confirm everything he has said but Mew did exist. Whether or not they still exist I do not know.'

'What about the fossils? Is it possible that fragments have been found and ignored?'

'It is entirely possible. Legendary Pokemon are the protectors of the world's balance, keeping the energies of the world in check. Mythical Pokemon on the other hand are born from the concentration of energy itself, so usually only one or two of such Pokemon exist at any given time. Mew is one of these Mythical Pokemon, born from a concentration of pure psychic energy. When they die, that energy disperses leaving a very fragile corpse behind, so it is entirely possible that such a fragile corpse would leave behind only fragments if fossilized.'

Emily's thought were racing as she considered both Jake's and Allister's words.

'If Team Rocket really is able to create an unbeatable Pokemon that could be a big problem.'

Emily looked at Jake and asked him about Mewtwo.

"Jake you said that Team Rocket would succeed in making Mewtwo. What happened after that? Did they attack somewhere?"

Jake started laughing as he responded.

"No mommy...If you were an unbeatable Pokemon would you listen to anyone? Mewtwo destroys the lab he was kept at and disappears until much later."

"Well at least Team Rocket doesn't get their hands on such a powerful weapon."

Jake stopped laughing and looked a his mom with a serious expression.

"Mewtwo isn't a weapon mommy. Mewtwo is a living breathing Pokemon with thoughts and emotions. Calling it a weapon means you consider it as less than that and is the reason it hates it's creators and all humans in general."

Emily was taken aback at Jake's words and realized that he was right.

"You're right Jake. For a moment I didn't think of Mewtwo as a Pokemon but as a simple tool for Team Rocket to use. Sorry."

Jake just nodded before turning his attention back to the Pokedex as he read the entries of whichever Pokemon caught his interest.

The next few days flew by until the doctor was satisfied with Green's condition and approved his discharge paperwork. As the family of three waited for a taxi to take them out of the city to collect Emily's Pidgeot a large vehicle stopped in front of them and George Jenny stepped out and called to them.

"Hahaha..I'm glad I made it. You didn't tell me you had been discharged already. I was coming to visit you. How about I treat you to lunch in honor of your swift recovery?"

Emily gave him a brief hug and responded.

"That would be lovely George. Thank you."

"Of course Emily. It's the least I can do for you and your family. Hop in and we will be off."

The four of them boarded the vehicle and set off for one of the more popular restaurants in town where they were led to a private room at George's request. There was scattered small talk until the food was delivered and the waiter left.

"Now that we won't be disturbed for a bit there is some business I need to discuss with you."

"Really George?"

"Sorry Emily this is important and should only take a few minutes."

Emily was obviously unhappy but didn't interfere with their business talk and turned her attention to Jake who was having more fun looking around the luxurious private room than eating.

"I was told by the accounting department that unless you take a promotion they can't give you another raise for your recent contributions."

"George I've already told you before. A promotion would mean being stationed in a bigger city than Pallet Town and that is unacceptable. I'm already away from my family more than I would like helping out other squads."

"Yeah. I figured you would say that so is there anything else you would want as a substitute for a monetary reward?"

There was silence for a bit while Green thought about it.

"There is one thing that comes to mind."

"Let's hear it. I'll see what I can do to make it happen."

"Red and Blue mentioned a short time ago that they were thinking of traveling again."

Emily's head snapped up as she glared at Green but he pressed on.

"Could you see about getting them travel documents for the Johto Region? I know the process can take a while so I don't expect you to pull off any miracles."

"This year's and next year's available spots have already been claimed but maybe I could get them put in for the year after? That's probably the best I can do."

Green shook his head.

"Make it the fourth or even fifth year from now. Their kids are only four right now and I don't want them leaving before their kids are a bit older."

"Those two probably don't realize just how much you care about them. I'll put them in for four years from now and they will be valid for two years so they can leave anywhere inside that time frame."

"One more thing. Don't tell Red or Blue about this, I want to keep it under wraps until they mention traveling again."

"I can do that but you do know that Professor Oak gets notified anytime his son's name get entered into the system right? I'm not responsible if he spills the beans."

"I'll talk to the Professor so hold off on submitting the documents until I message you."

"Can do. Now that's enough business let's enjoy the food."

Emily was no longer glaring at Green but he could tell she was still upset with him about the whole situation. An hour or so later George returned to work and Green, Emily, and Jake took a walk back to the hotel to pack up and spend one more night before going shopping in Celadon City and then returning home.

Sometime later when Jake was asleep Green and Emily lay in bed talking.

"I'm not going to mention the travel documents to Red or Blue until they mention traveling again but I think you should tell Beth and Dehlia about them."

Emily rolled over in Green's arms to face him.

"They might talk and ruin your surprise though."

"I didn't really intend for it to be a surprise just that I don't want them thinking about it just yet. Knowing the two of them they would push to leave in three years or even try to get the Professor to snatch two of next years spots for them. The last thing they need is to run off unprepared, that's what got them into so much trouble during their first Pokemon Adventure."

Emily giggled softly.

"I remember. You were always grumbling about having to clean up their messes after they left every town. It was kind of cute back then, do you really think that they are still like that even after all this time?"

Green just sighed.

"Almost positive. So I want to put together a couple travel kits for them before they leave. Might just save their lives."

Emily giggled again.

"Well you've got four years to try and beat some sense into them. I'll be cheering for you."

Green just grumbled as he pulled Emily close and closed his eyes.
