"Thank you, my son," the Viscount says, oblivious to his daughter's inner turmoil. "I am sorry I did not listen to your advice about the sand industry. I know you warned me that it was a risky investment, and I should have listened. But it was the only option left to save our family from bankruptcy. I am sorry if I disappointed you."
Marianne looks at her father, her heart swelling with love and pride. "Father, I am not disappointed in you," she says. "You did what you thought was best for our family. And I am sure you will make up for it in the future. Besides, there is no need to dwell on the past. Let us focus on the future."
The Viscount smiles, a look of relief in his eyes. "You are wise beyond your years, my son," he says. "I am glad you are home with me. I have missed you."
"I missed you too, Father," Marianne says, feeling a sense of contentment wash over him. "And I am happy to be home."
