Chapter 7 - Unfold

"But I thought that only I could see or hear you." His little sister was more than confused about his request, Dante could hear the struggle to understand in her voice.

"Only those related by blood to me can see or hear me, puddin'. Do this, and I'll explain everything after, I promise."

He saw Cheryl rummaging through her backpack after her phone, skepticism all around her, but granting his wish nonetheless. If he wasn't so scared for her life right now, Dante would've smiled.

The ringing blasting from the speaker made him aware of the impending truth that his little pudding was about to discover the truth.

"I see that you finally remembered that you have a mother." Their mother's voice was strained and tired, but strict like always.

"Hi ma', I see that you finally remembered that you have another child now." Leave it to Cheryl to never back down from a confrontation. They were more alike then they would ever admit.

"Stop it, both of you! Ma' I need you to tell Cheryl who can protect her in Greendale for a month."

Silence, and the forest's sounds were all that was heard, after Dante spoke. Their mother's pain at hearing his voice could be felt by both of them even if Lucielle Blossom didn't utter a single word. Her sorrow and suffering was suffocating but neither he or Cheryl said anything, waiting patiently for Lucielle to process what just happened.

"Dante Forsythe Blossom...what did you do?"

"What was necessary ma'...I had to do something, that...that wasn't a life for me, this way I can protect her from others, not from me."

"What? What are you saying Danny?" His sister's confusion was growing but he couldn't help it. Better hate him for the truth than love him for a lie.

"She's broke the sigil ma', for quite some time now, we didn't know because we were busy staying as far away from her as possible, and that isn't even the worst part. She broke it under a hunter's watch. From what Cheryl described I don't think he's human. It might be one of the dark elf's."

"Sigil, hunters and elf's? Danny what gibberish are you mumbling there?"

"Honey, let your brother speak. We will explain everything after Danny finishes talking."

"Sure, even as a ghost, Danny's your favourite."

She threw the phone in his direction, knowing that he couldn't catch it, and got up from her blanket, taking her leftover joint with her. She was furious and hurting, and all that Dante wished for, was to hug her pain away.

"I made a deal, ma'...so I can finally be there for her when she needs me most. Now I need you to help me protect her 'till I come back."

"Ow,Danny...with who?" His mother's crying could be heard in her voice, but for the first time in years, that cry didn't deter him from his propose.

"The same one."

Lucielle's sob almost broke his heart, but gladly for him, he didn't have one at the moment.

"I was doomed from the moment I was born ma'...I just made the deal sweeter for me. Now, when I'll come back I will know for sure that my little puddin' will be safe, for as long as I will live. And this time, I plan on having a long life."

He could hear her uncontrollable sobs, she was crying more then when he shot himself, because Lucielle now knew that her son gave up his life for an eternity of pain and sorrow. And he let her mourn his death and mourn his life that was waiting for him, when he would come back to the living.

Dante watched his little sister playing with her cat, and laughing. That laughter was worth it, he told himself. Hearing those happy giggles and watching her live a full life, without the loneliness and pain he caused her, when he left, was worth it.

"Cheryl needs to know, I don't care how you do it, but you owe us ma'... You need to make things right by her."

First it was the intake of her breath, next he heard his mother control her sobs, and after it was her sigh of resentment, knowing full well that just as her daughter resembled her, her son was as stubborn as his father.

"Fine. I will tell her everything, but in person."

"Ma' you know that you're prohibited from entering this town ever again and..."

"I think I know my curse better then anyone, son. I'm leaving right now, I should get there by midnight, until then, you better prepare her for what's to come. You know as well as I, that she won't take this ok. She might even hate you for keeping it a secret until now. I know that she hates me, I've come to terms with that. You on the other hand, could never keep your sister mad for long."

"She smoked a joint, she's high as fuck now, and I will try to suggest she smokes another one when you arrive."

Lucielle's short laugh brought some relief for Dante. If it was someone else's mother maybe she would've scolded them both for smoking, but not her. The once young Lucielle, was the wild cat of her family.

"Make sure she leaves me some, as I will shortly meet my dear younger sister Yehnnefer, and I will need it more." The finality in her tone made him relax, knowing that soon his sister will understand their decision of leaving her all those years back.

The clicking of the phone, could have made him laugh, if it wasn't for the snapping of twing he heard in the distance. First he watched Cheryl, making sure she was clueless and still enjoying her cat's company, then he rushed in the bushes to cath whoever was snooping around them.

His bony cold hand wrapped around Ace's throat and pinned him to the ground.

"You are starting to become a nuisance and I might just snap your neck!"
