Chapter 107 - Chapter 107 - Avoiding the Line of Sight

"How's it going?"

The helicopter's propellers churned up huge air currents, swirling dust from the ground into the distance.

The commander bowed and stepped down from the transporter to the black guard who greeted him.

"From the traces we found, they should have gone up the mountain."

The black guard said, gesturing toward the woods beside the path, where several guards in Umbrella Corporation uniforms were probing something with their instruments.

"Should?"

The commander frowned, he was hoping for something more than such an ambiguous answer.

"After entering the mountains, the complex terrain as well as the fallen leaves covered the tracks, we couldn't determine the direction they fled in, and those traces left behind could have been faked, but I couldn't think of a better way than to enter the big mountains."

The black guard voiced his findings along with his speculations, leaving the commander in a brief silence.

In fact, just as kevin had surmised, after inspecting the traces, the commander immediately formed the helicopters into teams to search the various areas of the Acre Mountains, while the remaining dozen or so armored vehicles were arranged to go into the trails of the Acre Mountains, forming a sparse line of defense not to deter the enemy, but only for early warning.

In this commander's opinion, he had ruled out taking the highway route at the first opportunity, and the other leader had been smart enough to not only recognize his ambush, but to nearly escape the city without a word!

He couldn't believe that a man of such superior intelligence would choose such a risky approach.

After all, it is in the midst of complex terrain that one is able to maximize one's intellectual capacity.

"However, no matter how high your intelligence is, under absolute force, you can only submit obediently ..."

In fact, how does he know, kevin's wisdom, from the familiarity of the intelligence, from out of the city, kevin's advantage, it is gone, and finally can only risk a fight!

However, kevin's luck apparently didn't run out and his instincts, once again, saved him!

Even, in order to find them as quickly as possible, the commander did not send half a dozen more helicopters to the highway to search for them!

"SIR, I think, isn't it a good idea to send one or two patrols on this highway?"

The black guard seemed to sense something and suggested it to the commander.

"No need! I'm still too short-handed, so how can I split the army again?"

The commander waved his hand arbitrarily and dismissed the black guard's suggestion, and the black guard didn't think anything of it; he was only suggesting it out of an abundance of caution, and he shared the commander's thoughts that there was no way KEVIN and the others would abandon the car and take the highway route on foot.

From time to time, kevin and the others who kept jogging on the highway looked back, the slightest hint of worry and nervousness passing through their eyes.

However, apart from kevin and Ellis, who had exceptional eyesight, the only thing that the crowd could see was the huge black shadow that Akeley Mountain had transformed into!

KEVIN finally breathed a long sigh of relief when he realized that all the helicopters were circling into the Arklay Hills with bright searchlights and not a single soldier was coming up the highway.

As soon as he was out of the Raccoon City limits, his mission was complete, and the crowds that had blended into the town and traveled to other cities weren't something the Umbrella Corporation could catch if they wanted to.

However, the end of Raccoon City doesn't mean the crisis is over; the T-virus has begun to spread through the air, and in the weeks yet to come, it will spread throughout the United States, and in turn, sweep the entire planet ...

But does throwing off the Umbrella Corporation's trail mean they're really safe?

In the darkness, an incredibly agile figure easily crossed the barrier built by the Umbrella Corporation and landed on top of the highway, occasionally letting out a heavy intake of breath.

"Whoosh!"

The air was abruptly torn apart, and the figure that seemed to have identified its target abruptly exploded into full speed, bringing up a slight sonic whine.

...

"BOSS, something's been found!"

After tens of minutes, Karanp, who was walking ahead, suddenly made a sound.

"What's wrong?"

kevin took a few steps to leap over the number of people separating them in the center and came to Karanp's side.

"Look!"

Kalamp pointed to a dark shadow on the side of the road and said, "A high-voltage power box! This is the reference point for our destination, and the fact that the entire transit town relies on this power box for almost all of its electricity means that we're close to the town."

As Karanp was speaking, behind kevin, there suddenly came an icy female voice.

"The indentured servant is out of the default range of Raccoon City, no Umbrella Corporation personnel in the vicinity, ruling mission accomplished!"

"The indentured may choose on their own to return to the Abyss, or to continue to stay in the realm, but the return must be out of sight of any human in the realm."

"Quest rewards will be tallied and distributed after returning to the Abyss."

The Guide's icy voice sounded unusually pleasant to kevin's ears at this time, the hint of mission completion meant that he was officially out of danger and could return to the abyss at any time!

Having one's life secured may be something too ordinary for the average person in the real world. But for kevin, it was a rare luxury, even if that security, was only temporary.

About to separate, kevin heart surprisingly still have a trace of reluctance.

Every single person here is real, flesh and blood, with feelings. Every single one of them, who knew him as a comrade in arms!

However, kevin clearly doesn't belong in this realm, and is doomed to be separate from the moment he enters.

"Mr. kevin, when will I be able to see Daddy?"

The little girl Angela was held in Alice's arms, rather than letting her walk on her own, otherwise with her small body, where could she withstand such a sharp march.

"Uh ... sorry, we're still in danger and can't take you to meet with your father at the moment. But trust me, he should be safe now."

kevin touched the top of Angela's head and sighed slightly in his mind.

At this time, the sky was already slightly white, and an incomparably brilliant aurora borealis suddenly crossed the sky, carrying a hint of what seemed to be the dawn of hope, sweeping into the deep silent darkness of Raccoon City!

The attention of the crowd was captured by the devastatingly bright light in a moment!

At this point kevin and the others had completely left the confines of Raccoon City, and were more than a hundred miles away from the city center, completely within safe range!

When this stunning aurora completely disappeared into the darkness, a bit of light that was a hundred times more blazing than the rising sun spread out wildly from the distant center of the city!

A hemispherical energy wave spread out with the momentum of swallowing the sky and sweeping the world!

Aesthetics, which brings destruction, complete and utter destruction!

The crazily spreading energy wave destroyed all the objects it came into contact with, including buildings, greenery, zombies, roads, bridges, and so on!

Everything was destroyed to powder by the enormous energy generated by the nuclear explosion, and a city that was once as beautiful as a paradise was completely obliterated by the destruction of this ultimate human weapon!

"Days! They're really ..."

One of the Special Tactics members was speechless, even though the outcome had been known for some time, it was still overwhelming when it actually happened!

In fact, everyone except kevin was a bit overwhelmed by the fact!

Raccoon City, after all, was where they lived, where their home had once been, and to be faced with such a clean cleanup was a real source of sadness, as well as intense anger!

kevin is an outsider at this point, he can't feel this sadness and helplessness, his hometown, not even on this earth ...

"What's wrong?"

Alice was the first to look back, her eyes, through the afterglow of the golden morning sun, to the highway beyond!

Seeing this, kevin couldn't help but ask.

"Something."

Ellis set Angela down and replied with a stony face, her head not looking back, staring dead center somewhere in the void.

"Why I ..."

Kevin said halfway, but then paused, the virus in his body, it seems that because of the "mutation", lost the ability to sense, I do not know what the impact will be.

"Something? Go! Run!"

Although he didn't know what it was, kevin instinctively felt the danger and immediately bellowed out, waking up the crowd who had been unable to pull themselves together for a long time!
