Divine Beasts
Named beings that have existed since the age of myths.
An age where Gods manifested their divine blessings on the daily and heroes and villains of incredible power that they could only be found in stories were common as the weeds on then roadside.
Of course, the name Divine Beasts was misleading as it really only entailed beings of incredible power no matter the species whether they be the Gods or Legendary Heroes of myth.
But... It all ended at the hands of the absolute evil desiring the world for itself thus plunging the world into the age of chaos.
And as that happened, many Heroes, Gods, Divine Beasts and many other sacrificed themselves to seal this absolute evil, rendering its influence a
But after the age of legends came, the world was so damaged that many records of the past were lost in the sea of time never to be heard of again.
And with the fall of the world, many a divine beast hid themselves, manifesting only a fraction of their powers to create forbidden areas so dangerous that only the stupid brave would venture.
With divine beasts that had fraudulent abilities that played around with the laws of the world, they also simultaneously contained a lifespan so long that several hundreds of thousands of generations could disappear in a blink of an eye and they would only age the human equivalent of a single year.
But that wasn't the point.
The point was that in the age of myths, there were Villains as numerous as the heroes that they encountered and Divine Beasts as numerous as the animals on this planet.
And amongst those divine beings and villains, some of them, now called the betrayers of the worlds grace pledged themselves to the Absolute evil.
These beings were called the Divine Sinners.
And that was the type of being that the [Chorus Singer] was.
A divine Sinner that had its abilities to manipulate minds irreversibly changed after encountering the absolute evil
Now weakened considerably however, it was only able to helplessly flee against one divine being and a small human that seemed to smell like the humans of the past.
But it was absurd because the lifespan of a divine beast, no matter how sinful it was, was still much longer then the lifespan of a human being.
So it should just die like the rest of them.
Swinging its tentacles that were constantly swirling around behind it, the Chorus Singer hurriedly swam upwards while holding the candidate of evils choice.
Forcibly squeezing the frantically shaking and convulsing body in its tentacles, the chorus singer blew out of its mouth producing a noise that no normal human being could ever hear.
Influencing the mind of the candidate in its tentacles, although it would much like to do more and create a pawn similar to the ones that they had in the age of myth.
It couldn't do- no, it was more like it could never do it to a candidate that the lord had its eyes on.
Feeling its mouth part weaken, the Chorus Singer felt a distinct sadness in its heart as it felt its divine gift that it had used on a whim during the age of myth now had weakened considerably.
And although it was still useful against the weak mortals of this age of laurels, it couldn't stand to a level
At the least the same could be said for the ancient guardian with a lineage that wasn't any less splendorous then its own.
Not that it could compare to the gift that the absolute evil granted to it, but it still had to be careful of the laser that it carried.
*Ululullluuuuuu
Growling with its own unique sound making organ that was half mental, the Chorus Singer felt an impact on its shell.
'!'
They had caught up, and the ancient guardian was covered in a green armor that made it seem much more imposing then it previously was.
---
'Gotcha'
Instantly activating the vine rune, the green plant like vines on the ancient Guardians instantly started to flail as they moved from my blade as the focal point.
Since I couldn't really do much about the Chorus Singer escaping, then it just made sense to stop it from escaping in the first place didn't it?
Grinning, the vines quickly grew up and consumed metric tons of my mana and malaise, sprouting teeth like protrusions.
And although it was mildly concerning that the vines had teeth, it was all mostly located on the extremities.
Namely, the parts that were now connected to the gigantic being that was the Chorus Singer.
*Thunk
Shattering their teeth upon making contact with that incredibly hard shell, other vines bit into the flesh of the Chorus Singer, dragging it down and creating a small diffusion of purple blood around the wound.
Instantly withering as the purple blood entered the vines, I grit my teeth hard all the while I felt my mana and malaise reserves deplete in real time.
Moving forwards, more and more teeth bearing vines lunged forwards at the gigantic mass that was the chorus singer all the while the Ancient Guardian pushing me forwards crashed into the Chorus Singer.
Quickly twisting around and slamming its spiked side into the being, a loud thud filled the water as a shockwave created from the attack hit me.
But I really couldn't care less.
Feeling dizzy as mana and malaise left my body like a hole created in some sort of metaphorical dam, I bit my lip and focused my eyes.
Glowing blue, instead of the paths manifesting, a series of blue lines manifested into my vision.
And although I would like to question what they were, now wasn't exactly the time.
Feeling my eyes get strained I stared directly at the Chorus Singer that had finally deigned to look at us.
Feeling another impact on my mind making me even dizzier then before, ice formed in the water as they bit into the Chorus Singer's black flesh.
A very smart idea if I do say so myself since that basically meant that the purple blood wouldn't be able to stop me from creating more and more vines that would wrap around the Chorus Singer.
On that note.
Quickly feeling a strain on my mind akin to a headache, I leapt from the surface of the Ancient Guardian tussling with the gigantic sea creature and twisted my body.
Swinging my blade, the leaf tentacles, the ones not affected by the malaise instantly wrapped around the ancient Guardians myriad spikes.
Wrapping around them, they quickly formed strong anchor point with the chains embedded into its near impenetrable flesh.
'Wait, how did it eve-'
Feeling a pressure on my leg, I looked down only to see a black tentacle wrapped around my limb while caressing it.
'...'
'ShiIIIIIIITTTTTT'
Suddenly getting dragged away, the gigantic tentacular being swung me around like a small girl that had made their first encounter with a doll.
Tornado style.
Bubbles getting whipped up in my wake as I let out a soundless scream that shouldn't have been possible now that I think about it, my body slammed against its shell.
'!?'
Feeling my skin crack and fall apart as a shock traveled throughout my body, pain struck my spine like a hammer... to the spine.
I really didn't know how else to describe it since it just ffelt like a hammer.
On second thought, it kind of felt like the car that did a drive by on me.
Right before the plane crash but nevertheless, quickly reacting, I pulled out the rapier and struck the shell, making the silver colored end sink deeply into its shell.
Pulling at my leg, I felt my bones crackle for a moment as they were reset.
'Luuuu!?'
Hearing a strange noise in my head, I dismissed it as I swung the leaf blade at the tentacle connected to my leg that had gone slack for some reason.
But because it was still connected to the gigantic network of vines connecting the Ancient Guardian and the chorus Singer together I felt significant resistance.
And because of that significant resistance, the tentacle had time to recover and dislocate my left thigh.
'!'
Cutting apart the black tentacle, I grimaced as I forcibly reset my thigh bone with my right leaf blade wielding hand.
Hanging off of the gigantic shelled beast with the rapier, I felt a sudden change in pressure.
Water crashing against me as bubbles surged around me, I let out a gasp as air entered my lungs.
Yes that's right.
'Air?'
Widening my eyes and blinking away the salt, I could now fully appreciate the gigantic beings that i had hitched a ride on.
Roughly the size of a stadium, the oval shaped Chorus Singer let out a strange cry causing me to have a head pounding head ache.
'ULUUUUULLL'
Shaking it off, my head assaulted me despite being a part of my body.
Gritting my teeth, I slammed my skull onto the Chorus Singer's shell.
And although now I was dealing with a bleeding and cracked head, it was at the least strangely more bearable than the head pounding head ache,
Truly fighting fire with fire.
Hanging off with the rapier, I turned my head to look at the surroundings that had strangely darkened.
And what I saw had me leaving my jaw hanging in surprise.
'Holy...'
Staring at the blackened stormy sky that surged and ebbed like the tide, the black clouds seemed to have a life of their own as several pillar like tentacles quickly converged in the sky.
Chorus Singer shrieking loudly in its strangely head ache inducing voice that was just ulululu, the Ancient Guardian was similarly as impossing.
Facing the gigantic white shell beast using an endless supply of black tentacles, black thorns covered in green vines shuddered as the red skinned body it was connected to shuddered in rage.
Purple eye glaring as it slowly started to grow neon purple, the two beasts straight out of mythology suddenly struggled in the leafy bindings.
And despite my best efforts, the plant like bindings between the two gigantic beasts quickly ripped apart as I suffered the fate of losing all of my mana reserves.
Well now I still had malaise reserves, but seeing as I was distinctly aware of its monsterifying powers, I had my misgivings about it.
But it seems I literally had no choice otherwise I would just die.
'Not that it matters since I could literally come back from death, but I would much rather stay alive without suicidal thoughts.'
Forcing a grin onto my face, I put the leaf blade that had lost a concerning amount of durability away into my inventory.
Adjusting my grip on the rapier, I took a deep breath as I brought out several stone blocks that would serve as the things bringing me upwards.
Floating in my hand as the stack of cobblestone appeared clumped up in my hands, I rubbed them together before swinging my arm and creating a platform for me to stand on.
Now it was only a manner of climbing this several story tall monster all the while it was fighting with another several story tall monster while trying to make sure that I didn't fall.
And all of that while I had to take care of the few tentacles that were creeping up trying to locate me.
Yeah.
This wouldn't be hard.
Staring at the top of the shell where I should be able to get stable footing, I moved my hands
