Chapter 131 - Chaos (3)

"What in the Gods above."

Lucia Rosetta.

Part of the Rosetta Kingdom which shared its borders with the corrupted lands and the expansive desert.

Once a large kingdom, the kingdom had been forced to its limits as the corruption continued to expand as no known cure for the corruption had been found as of yet.

And thus the Kingdom of Rosetta could only use the city of adventurers and the powerful magic knowledge that they had at their disposal as a placeholder solution until they could find a concrete one.

The corruption would only expand if the evil aura overflowed onto uncorrupted lands after all.

So when an incredibly large magic disturbance was detected by the royal mages in the court of Rosetta, the princess.

Lucia Rosetta was commanded by the king to go there and find out what the hell that disturbance was as the desert bandits and termites on their other borders occupied the royal mages attention.

Not like the Corruption was any the less important, but according to the princes, it was better that the useless person should go and find out why the border cities weren't sending any messages.

And it was then that Lucia really hated her family for not even providing her with a communication orb.

'I know that the war with the Antlions and desert bandits is important and all but we are the royal family for goodness sake, I know I have the right to a communication orb!'

'And I really wish I have a communication orb right now!'

Thinking those thoughts, Lucia struggled to put together what she was seeing into words as she blinked at the sight that she hoped was an illusion.

"Guard, do you see that?"

"Yes ma'am"

'Damn.'

She honestly hoped that what she was seeing but it wasn't real, but it was.

And she didn't know what she was seeing.

Three gigantic monstrosity's made out of flesh and bone were brawling against each other all the while giant constructs of wood and earth fought against the tides of corruption.

'Is the Mother Goddess helping us?'

And perhaps it was a figment of her imagination, but Lucia thought she had just seen a man flash by with orange gleams blasting into the water.

---

With the tide somewhat settled, I landed knee deep into water all the while the earth split apart again to reveal the maw of the eater of worlds.

If there was anything of note of the three bosses, it was that the eater of worlds was probably going to be the first one to bite the dust.

Having spread itself to thin trying to attack three things at the same time, each thing more than capable of ripping it apart into shreds.

The eater of worlds was now reduced to this one body.

But that one body was still stupidly large.

Op, nevermind, its two bodies now.

Thinking that, I turned around and felt myself be dragged along the gigantic worm being tossed around by Skeletron.

I must say this knife has some grip.

Releasing my grip on the knife, I was flung up into the air framed only by the moon shining down onto my back as I stared at Skeletron ripping the Eater of worlds apart.

Reaching the apex of my flight into the air, I smiled.

Bringing out the [Marksman's bow] I started infusing malaise into it.

Pulling back the strings, the arrow in my hand slowly overflowed with more and more malaise, glowing orange.

Gaining a series of cracks onto its surface, my smile split my face once again as a an orb of light impentratable by normal means appeared in my hands.

As a part of the bow's power the Mark's mans bow gained additional strength the farther the arrow went.

And since I was high up in the sky where the sun don't shine with only the thundering skies to accompany.

I felt the electricity of the thunderstorm tickle the back of my neck as I felt an uncontrollable thrill pass through my body.

Drawing the bow, the giant bow pulled back its strings and when I began to fall.

The arrow was loosed.

And when it was loosed.

The world quietened.

As if attracted to the orange light, every being capable of thought turned their eyes to it.

It contained some sort of dangerous aura to it despite looking all so peaceful and... orange.

But as they stared at the giant arrow, all those proficient in battle and had developed a sixth sense to danger of all kinds could sense the immense destructive capability hidden within that orange dot.

And it was even tangible to those unproficient in the ways of war as those who had accompanied the princess were sweating profusely, unable to drag their eyes away from the spectacle.

So concentrated on the orange dot that they were unable to react in time to one of the mindless corrupted beasts swooping down from the sky aiming to take the life of the mage in the middle of the procession.

As a mage needed to use mana to cast spells, they were functionally giant walking talking balls of mana that attracted wild beasts to them while serving as danger signs.

If they consumed a mage, they could potentionally move past their limits to the next stage of evolution.

For example, becoming an elite creature and gaining an unique ability for themselves.

"Kya!" Surprisedly screaming before Lucia could even whip out the mana weave needed to activate a spell.

A large arrow embedded itself into the skull of the corrupted beast oblivious to the dangers of the surroundings.

Still in the midst of pulling out their weapons in the face of the imminent threat, Lucia cursed her brothers who definitely gave her less than subpar soldiers.

They couldn't even fulfil their basic job of protecting a mage so that they could unleash spells onto the horde of beasts!

But now that her attention wasn't solely placed onto the giant orb of power in the sky both warding away the beasts and attracting them to it like moths to the lamp.

She turned her red eyes of the Rosetta family and stared at the one who interrupted the beasts attack and saved her.

And although the Rosetta kingdom allowed other races such as the elves and the beast people into their kingdom.

It was the first time that she had seen such a strange beast person.

Standing around half of her height, startling blue gem like eyes were the sole defining feature of the strange gecko like person as two horns twirled up around their head.

Twirling the arrow in their hand and fiddling with the bow, the strange gecko person gave a few cursory glances at the princess right before returning to what they were doing.

And it was then that the princess noticed something odd.

Despite the incredible allure and danger presented to everyone by the orange ball of slow falling light.

There were people who stood unaffected by the danger of the deep fear of death striking at their hearts.

And as the seconds passed by all the while these strange warriors fought off the creatures of evil.

----

It was nothing short of a natural disaster.

Like the hammer of God, a pillar of orange light pierced the skies and erased the clouds surrounding it, revealing the black sky of the night and the stars beyond it.

Thunder incessantly struck.

Crashing down on the twisting and tumbling waves, the two eater of worlds with their leathery purple bodies screeched as boils of all kinds started to melt away at their appearance.

Following it, the devastating heat of the blow even started to boil the water surrounding the Overlord of the seas causing it to thrash relentlessly in the boiling water.

Eating away at the creatures of the sea and ground, the boss of the sky was the only one that got away from the blast relatively unscathed.

That wasn't to say that the boss monster wasn't unscathed at all.

Losing an arm and having the rest of its body dyed an unsettling ashen grey that was reminiscent of a body burnt in flame, thunder crackled across the sky as the immense power of the blow stimulated the world.

Breaking the world, the pillar of orange light tilted as the blow was directly facing the Overlord of the Seas and pierced through its body.

Despite losing most of its sections, the eater of worlds apparently wasn't the first one to die as the Overlord of the Seas might've been the one.

Facing the gigantic beam of superimposed and concentrated Malaise not any the less weaker than the blow that I launched with mana in the kingdom of the malaise.

I grinned.

But instead of exploding inside of the boss monster's body.

The malaise ridden blow took a different route.

Burning a hole straight through the water bubble protecting it and serving as its manner of attack, the water bubble quickly evaporated as it was all spent trying to off set the power of the Energy pillar.

The seas behind the boss monster surged and ebbed as giant tendrils of water twirled up to the sky as they pierced towards the pillar of orange hoping to contain it with a stupid amount of water.

Sadly, or not so sadly in fact, the malaise I put inside that attack was much higher than the amount of water and couldn't be offset in a short time frame.

If it really could've been offset that easily I might as well kill myself...

Not that it would work since I would just respawn later but hey, it's the thought that counts.

But nevertheless, the arrow containing all of the malaise in it gained several cracks on its surface as the wooden arrow which had surprisingly contained all of the power in it finally exploded.

And instead of piercing a hole straight through the overlord of the seas like I had hoped.

It instead blew up in sphere like shape, blasting outwards in several arcs, displacing the air itself as the overlord of the seas was placed underneath several consecutive blasts straight up.

Well then.

Since it's death is basically guaranteed, I might as well turn my attention to the floating skeleton named Skeletron.
