Chapter 94 - The kingdom of the malaise (27)

This new world was... Confusing to say the least.

Unlike the first time I saw this new world of mana where it was basically the generation of a new sense that I seemingly forgot.

This one was different.

A path of sorts seemingly unfolded in my vision and floated in the air even as the glowing fist neared my head.

But strangely enough a sense of calm washed against my body.

Staring at the gauntlet that was near enough to feel the heat emanating off of it.

I slowly followed the path by dragging left foot backwards to drag my face away from the gauntlet, letting the glowing armament brush by my face.

Bringing out another Assassin's dagger, it quickly found it's way through the gaps in the armor and sunk its teeth into the flesh of the elbow.

Upon locking the Concierge's arm in place, a [Balanced Sword] appeared in my hand to nail the Concierge's foot to the ground.

Instinctually following the rest of the path, it was only when I was aware of the weight of the Lights bane in my hand and the sticky feeling of being slick with blood on my skin that I realized that the Concierge's head had been separated from its shoulders.

Watching the headless Concierge in disbelief it was only when it had collapsed to he ground like a puppet that lost its strings did I realize it had died.

Something I didn't expect as I thought I would've struggled a much greater deal then whatever had just happened right now.

I let out a long sigh as I laid my back against the large corpse, feeling the strength and adrenaline that coursed through every fibre of my being slowly seep away.

Sinking against the ground a small sign of movement attracted my attention.

The Concierge's head slowly rolled towards me before eyeing me with their dull dead white eyes.

Now sufficiently chilled I shivered and kicked the head away and focused on something else.

The words [Dead Cells - 66% sync rate] Constantly replayed in my mind.

'Seems like to increase the sync rate efficiently it is best to just progress in the story line and subsequently, in power'

'But what new power did I gain?'

From my previous experiences, upon breaking through a major threshold hold of 10% I usually gained something new.

Like in Dead Cells where I received a map, Blue prints, better battle instincts, Ability to see Cells etcetra etcetra.

And since I usually gained something useful, I was looking forwards to it.

Staring hopefully at the game system, a screen appeared in front of me with a glowing exclamation mark that revealed things to me.

Staring at it, safe to say I was surprised at the new things that was unveiled.

It was the ability to use cells like what the God of Fun had said.

Although I was initially confused on how to obtain cells, it was only after my encounter with Guillian that I had found out how to both see and obtain them.

After said encounter I met the Collector who allowed me to trade equipment for cells and blue prints.

But after that one encounter...

Even if I returned to the connecting points between 'biomes' the Mutationeer and collector were not there anymore.

Which made sense since this was the real world where they had their own lives and wills.

But nevertheless.

I was just building up a large stockpile of cells since there was no way to use them.

Until now.

This new ability of mine allowed the usage of cells in a new crafting menu.

That's right.

A new one.

Now, much like the other more popular franchises, the Dead Cells system has a crafting system now.

And it worked by inputting blueprints and many cells and outputting said blue print.

It was a very applicable power since I only needed a single blueprint to create several high quality weapons.

Staring at my inventory from the corner of my eye, I moved them to the new crafting system that appeared in a familiar black screen that manifested out of nowhere.

In front of me, a blank black screen with a dark blue blue border appeared, smiling upon seeing the familiar interface I saw where I was going to make this blank screen was going to gain some new materials.

Moving the blueprints I had accumulated to the new screen I watched them get slowly devoured by white specks of light.

Seeing the blueprints that disappeared into the new found crafting system appear on the black interface that was now not as barren.

I smiled in satisfaction as I saw that I had a new avenue to grow in strength.

Well, one more accessible then the other really.

Making a note to gather some more blue prints and to research the new blue prints respective uses.

I got up and dusted myself off while looting the corpse.

Receiving a nice looking blue print in the process, I got ready to progress to another area.

But before I was able to progress past a certain point and find out the rest that this kingdom has to offer.

I had to deal with the unknown figures who were observing me from the bridge head.

Staring at them, they stared back.

'They don't look like Infected though, so what are they?'

Funnily enough, that same thought was projected by the figures at the bridge head.

---

'What type of monster is he?'

This thought was the common one that resounded within their skulls.

The other rarer thought amongst them was that the man was hot but that could be addressed later.

The single thought of a curious figure was the one that could be easily addressed, however.

'What is the concept of this man's strange power?'

The bearded figure with a slightly dazed look to his face dragged his fingers through his thick grey beard.

Tapping his large gnarled wooden staff adorned with a blue gem with his fingers, a distant look appeared in his eyes.

'Spatial storage yes, but where is the medium?'

Recalling the sight of the man flying through the air with unknown means while using the kingdoms ancient weaponry with incredible skill, taking them out of some sort of sub space that was unknown to him.

Raking his eyes along the figure of the unknown figure that had proven his power by slaying the infected concierge, the old man chuckled.

'I can't say that I expected to see the birth of a new sword master during my life time, what is this? The fifty second?'

'And how many deaths of the concierge does this make it? That recording old fool probably Knows.'

Recalling the old friend of his which usually sat on top of a pile of scrolls recording everything there was in this kingdom with his several eyes, the old man smiled at the sight of the young man who stood dazedly after killing the concierge.

'At least I can guarantee the next few years won't be boring'

Watching as the man suddenly started to move his hands around the air, the smile on his face turned slightly uncertain.

'...He's not insane is he?'

Taking another look of the man, he suddenly gained a new appreciation of the unknown figure that was the cause of the death of the Concierge.

'At least with the appearance of such a skilled man we can prolong our living by at least fifty years' Smiling darkly, the young man who couldn't stand to know the years that the old man had endured finally noticed him.

Glancing at the sky he suddenly felt melancholic.

'My Queen... I do hope that you can endure your loneliness without going insane'

Yello! Tree here!

Honestly, I realize that the Dead Cells franchise is a relatively niche one but bear with me.

In the end it would end with a great power up that will not only benefit him but others.

The specifics I can't disclose as it's literally in the future, but in maybe 10- 20 chapters, this insane arc will come to an end

At which point I'll pause to take a breather and prepare for the Minecraft arc.

You have no idea how much ideas I have in this brain of mine.

Also finished with residential, literally slept whole day, so expect daily uploads again
