Chapter 64 - Fall of a meteor

Upon impacting the ground, the shield absorbed all the impact before exploding into several fragmented pieces.

No, that was actually an underestimation of it.

It kind of just turned to dust.

Not that I could be bothered as the pink Cudgel had done it's job before it's quick departure.

Poor Cudgel, I barely knew ye.

But nevertheless.

Despite the cudgel departing from the world rather early.

It had done it's job.

And that job was to create an explosion in the battlefield that would attract all the eyes to me.

I didn't expect it to actually cause an explosion in the battlefield.

Standing in the middle of a large crater of my own doing, I couldn't help be carried by the momentum of my own doing and shouted to the air.

"COME AT ME YOU BASTARDS!"

Shouting those words while being surrounded by a crater of my own making I relished in the situation of letting loose my emotions.

But when the gazes filled with nothing but malice, rage and hate landed on me I realized the consequences of my own actions.

It was kind of to late to take back my words.

'Well shit'

Thinking those two words with a grimace.

All hell literally broke loose.

'I REALLY SHOULD INVEST IN ARMOR!!!'

Spinning around to dodge a purple sludge that flew towards my face, the sludge attacked something behind me.

Holding the Light's bane and the Katana with both hands.

I simultaneously equipped everything I could to endure the oncoming onslaught of horrors beyond my imagination.

Surging towards me were several familiar looking monsters.

The Human corrupted wielding their weapons with obvious stiffness and disarray, the beast like corrupted following it, a few goblins were also included in the mix.

And it seemed they were the earlier states of corruption seeing as a few of them had grown more eye balls out of their bodies.

Gaining bone armor as they did so.

Very sharp bone armor.

Grimacing I readied my blades and started to fight.

Ice left one of my hands as I activated the Ice shards without rest, the large spear like ice shards leaving their places in the air too pierce their foes with their sharp frozen ends.

The Katana cut through the air with a distinct whistle as an air cutter followed the path of the blade and cut through the horde of creatures.

The Light's bane did the same while being followed by a dark trail of shadows as the darkness encroached on the beasts and cut through them all.

What good they did to the already dead.

Raising a sword to meet the rusted sword of a corrupted human, the blade had to redirect it to the ground in favor of blocking the claw raised from another.

The one sided blade sunk into the flesh of a corrupted goblin, and with a flourish of the wrist.

The blade sliced through the flesh of the goblin and tore it in half.

Twisting my waist in ways I didn't think were possible, a rusted spear head swept past it, aiming for my guts and only attacking my side.

But even that was a wound, and I already knew that these things would inevitably continue to pile up to the point of crippling me.

I had a distinct understanding of that since my first arrival in this world.

And what do you know.

Spinning my double sided sword, I caught sight of the twin tailed wolf, the corruption having made itself known like a purple plague.

Because it was.

The silver mane of the wolf was dyed a worrying purple as patches of it fell off to reveal purplish skin that either bone or eyes growing out of it.

Looking at it even as I dodged the monsters surrounding me on all sides, using all of my being to not die immediately.

If it was the previous me I would have to struggle to even defeat the silver now purple beast.

A grin made it's way to my face as I continued to spin my swords around in a gory dance of death.

Flesh, bone, eyes and purple blood flying up to the sky due to the consequences of my own actions.

Spinning both myself and the swords simultaneously as I utilized every fiber of my being to not have my head lopped off.

The corrupted twin tailed wolf made it's way to me.

Grinning as it leaped and tried to take off my head with it's wide opened jaws I grinned and spun the light's bane in my left hand.

Bringing my arm back I thought about how I changed. 'I'm not the same bastard as before that could only be killed by you bastards!'

Well it seems that I forgot where I was.

Feeling the brief satisfaction in felling an enemy that I could only struggle to kill before I paused.

And in the heat of battle, especially when I was surrounded by nothing but enemies that craved for my warm red blood.

That one moment that was no longer than a second, it was one that could be especially fatal.

And it seemed my enemies knew of that as well.

Almost immediately the monsters surged forwards, unhindered by the curtain of steel, wind, shadow and ice I had made for myself.

They lunged for the sweet unprotected flesh I had that protected myself.

'Well shit'

Cursing inwardly, blinding pain filled my senses.

But ignoring the pain that I had grown so used to when fighting the zombies in the underground.

My body instinctively moved to protect myself, bringing the katana and Light's bane to protect the most important parts of my body.

Blood burst from my thighs, arms and waist as the pain in those parts was the most extreme.

Before using the shield of Cthulhu to charge straight into the air where I had a moment of safety.

Before the blood leaking out of the wounds could hinder my movements anymore I ripped a piece of jerkey from it's place in my inventory and chowed down on it.

Having to dismiss the Katana to do so, my brief time in the air was one that allowed me to be targeted by the monsters that inhabited the air.

[Soul Eater]

Grimacing as a purplish creature with ten eyes dived down from the air to eat me alive, I spun my blade around struck it right in the middle of it's wide opened mouth.

Patching up my wound immediately.

But loosing an arm in favor of eating a piece of my dwindling food supply to heal the wounds in body so that they wouldn't bleed was an exchange I made after quick deliberation.

Grabbing the katana out of my inventory while falling out of the sky like a falling star.

I spun in the middle of the sky and tensed my muscles before slashing.

Using the air cutter technique that my Ninja master that had taught me.

I turned into a beyblade in the middle of the air while slicing every single monster in my way.

Thick slashes appeared in the air as they combined with the ice shards in my hands and flew outwards in a devastating arc of death.

A circular deathzone of blue, white and black appeared around me as I spun in the air with no rhyme or reason, only using the eye of Cthulhu to make sure that I didn't hit the ground to soon.

It seemed the stress of the battle from fighting the Corrupted in a deadly dance of defense and attacking combined with the stress the Air cutter had put on the blade was to much for the sword.

Crack!

A crystal clear cracking noise made it's way to my ears as the Light's Bane I had used from the Eye of Cthulhu's corpse.

Or should I say from it's drops?

But nevertheless whether or not the blade was from a corpse of some greater or not.

It seemed the stress was to much and a long eye catching break had happened right in the middle of the blade right before it shattered into several much smaller fragmented pieces.

The blade itself turning into a blue scattering of dust.

Disbelief filled my eyes at that moment as the sword broke in half and fell down to the earth in a sharp fashion.

'Well shit'

As the blade disappeared, I was so caught up in my surprise that I failed to use my Shield Of Cthulhu to pull me away from the arms of death.

And seeing as I had slain several corrupted monsters in such an eye catching way.

Several such arms of death accompanied by jaws of death and claws of death flew towards my prone body.

Taking advantage of the momentary gap in concentration.

A blackish purple arrow flew through the crowds of monsters and reached right in front of my eyes.

And because I was literally dealing with the corrupted monsters by the hoards, I was caught off guard by this unknown attack that was not from the corrupted.

'Are these guys like the Lunar Order?'

Those were my last thoughts as the Corrupted arrow pierced my chest and burst a hole through it, making sure that my heart didn't exist anymore.

'Well you succeeded'

Falling into the throes of death, the familiar coldness that embraced me whenever I died tickled the back of my mind and hugged my heart.

Sighing sadly, I died.

'I wonder where I'll respawn next'

---

"We've got rid of the unforeseen variable sir, What do we do now?"

A figure wearing thick metallic black armor that emanated a purplish haze ever so frequently tapped the pommel of the blade embedded into the ground.

The giant covered in Onyx steel stared at the city of Adventurer's that desperately held off the hoards of corrupted creatures.

Shaking their head with remorse the solemn giant covered in onyx armor grabbed the handle of the large great blade and took it out of the ground.

Resting the heavy blade on their shoulder pauldrons , the dark edge facing the sky.

The figure covered in steel than turned around and walked off into the corrupted darkness, the moonlight casting it's shadows in their wake.

Sensing their mood, the several figures wearing black robes with purplish outlines looked at each other.

The one who had first spoken to the stalwart giant than shouted to their comrades.

"The Prophet has given his answer! Hand of the Corrupted! Fall back!"
