Chapter 38 - Auction Thieves

And just as my words fell.

The entire Auction house was plunged into darkness.

"Just like that"

Looking at the darkened room, the edges of the room quickly becoming known to me as my eyes adjusted quickly.

"Now if You'll excuse me, I have to go stop a few thieves."

Getting ready to burst out of the door Joseph stopped me.

"Wait!"

"What!? Speak quickly we don't have time!"

"The thief you just restrained! Take the magic gloves on their hands! It's inscribed with the Ice Shards spell!"

"Ok!"

Grimacing slightly as a pain suddenly attacked my head, I grabbed the gloves from the perpetrators hands before leaving.

---

'It's time'

Feeling their comrades open and restrain the occupants of the VIP rooms.

The only indicator that they were doing what they were supposed to do being the disappearance of the green lights on the boxes that allowed viewing inside to the outside instead of Outside in.

Nocking the arrow on the green bow, the arrow flew through the air and hit the green gem above the stage.

And it seemed to have done something to the system as the entire Auction house was plunged into darkness.

Opening the bottom half of their mask and drinking an unknown potion, the figure threw the bottle onto the ground.

And with a shatter of the glass, the figure moved.

Grabbing specialized arrows with ropes attached to their ends.

As if able to see through the darkness, the figure vaulted the metal banisters and jumped off the metal supports.

Twisting around in the air while nocking the roped arrow onto the bow, the arrow was loosed in the air and with a twist of the wrist, the arrow wrapped around the metal pathway.

Turning around in the air now perfectly fine and connected by the rope, the figure turned once again and shot three arrows in quick succession at the mag pie masked man.

"Calm down people! It's only the lights! The staff here at the auction house will try to discover what ha-"

In the middle of comforting the confused crowd filled with slightly rich people, the man was interrupted.

Manifesting a rapier from out of nowhere, the man struck down all three of the arrows and spoke.

"Tut tut tut! Seems like we have found the problem!"

Striking at the air with the rapier, the strikes all left a visible cyclone in the air as they flew to the falling figure.

Grabbing five arrows, the arrows were shot at the flying strike marks that attacked the figure.

Tearing the arrows to shreds and disappearing themselves.

The Figure , taking advantage of the man's brief surprise at having his attack stopped grabbed one of the cloth covered podiums, taking only the glass casing alongside the item inside it.

Jumping back wards to increase the momentum, the man returned to his senses and stabbed forwards with the rapier, trying to stop the figure from escaping with one of the auctioned items.

"No!"

Swinging up and back towards the banisters, the figure held the glass case underneath their arms and put it into a large cloth bag.

"The Plan has been Complete! Everyone! Retreat!" Shouting at the top of their lungs, the figure tried to make a run for it and vaulted off the banisters to somewhere else.

"Oh no you don't" Frowning the man with the magpie mask ran to follow the figure carrying the bag.

Leaving behind the one glass case behind while it was covered in a pale white cloth.

The Magpie masked auctioneer jumped across the panicking crowd that was being poorly controlled by the leftover Guards that hadn't been killed.

Stepping on the seats to vault upwards and forwards, the figure and the masked man both left the building behind.

And from within the shadows a figure moved.

That figure was the same one that had just left the auction house after shouting something out loud for their comrades to hear.

How did they stay in the auction hall despite being seen to leave physically?

Well...

'The potion of invisibility developed by the Continent of Minaft is working wonders'

Their body completely invisible, save for the large sack of cloth on their back and the bright green bow.

Moving leisurely to the final case at the center of the stage.

The figure had to quickly back off and draw a sword from somewhere as I suddenly slammed into the place where the figure once was.

"Yo"

Looking at the figure, even though I couldn't see their face as somehow their clothes were also invisible, I could tell.

That they were both confused and annoyed.

And their words confirmed that fact.

Letting out a one word question.

"How?"

It nonetheless contained several meanings in it.

Thinking back it was a blast now that I thought about it properly.

Grinning I held the weapons that the people who were restraining the VIP's and taking their bought items were using in front of me.

And let me tell you.

There were a lot.

Probably crouching lower in preparation for a fight after seeing the familiar weapons, seeing as how their bow and blade had lowered as well.

I had gathered several things related to the Dead Cells universe, most of them being similar to each other.

Things like the Spite sword and the Assassin's blade making a series of appearances a lot of the time.

The Marksman's bow showing up the most for the ranged fellas.

But the two items in the mans hands were ones I could recognize as the relevant information entered my eyes.

[Quick Bow]

[Blood Sword]

I should probably check my Sync rate to figure out how I have these thing popping up in my vision all of a sudden.

But nonetheless I stared at the figure.

"Not answering huh?"

Grabbing an arrow alongside the blood sword, the figure nocked the arrow and pulled back the strings of the bow.

"That's fine with me though"

Letting the arrow fly in the air.

Five other arrows followed in quick succession before the figure made the bow disappear and held the blood sword horizontal to their chest.

"Because I can just torture the information I want out of you when I capture you"

Narrowing my eyes at those words I twisted my body to dodge the six flying arrows that flew at incredible speeds.

Bringing up the Balanced blade to greet the Blood Sword barreling for my head I candidly replied.

"Why Don't you try it?"

With a flick of the wrist, my sword parried the Blood Sword as my other hand manifested the Spite Sword.

Calmly blocking the blade despite the parry, the figure in front of me nodded and jumped away.

Of course I seized the momentum and taunted them as I gave chase.

"What? Scared? Why you running away?"

Feeling the rush reach my head, I knew deep down that this level of arrogance was unprecedented of me but I ignored in favor of attacking the figure.

"seems like I'll have to get serious"

Dropping the bag of cloth down onto the ground, the figure grabbed the bow and fired several arrows right at my face.

Parrying the arrows or slicing them down the middle..

I instinctively knew, this would make for a long battle.
