Chapter 115: The Clever Suzu Shutou
Suzu Shutou was eating, but it wasn't the standard school lunch. Instead, it was some stir-fried noodles she casually bought, paired with a pot of tea she brewed herself.
A warm, gentle breeze blew in through the open window. It felt warm on her face but cool and refreshing on her body.
After finishing her meal, she lay quietly on the white-sheeted futon, gazing at the swaying white curtains by the window or the still ceiling above. Thus, she spent this lazy summer afternoon at a leisurely pace.
That was how things were planned, and Suzu was indeed a calm and unhurried person.
However...
"Young people these days are always so restless," Suzu said, sitting up on her futon and glancing toward the door.
Yuta soon pushed the door open, once again accompanied by the same three people.
"Doctor Shutou, Sayoko is injured," Yuta said as he helped Sayoko onto an empty futon nearby, ensuring she sat comfortably.
Suzu looked at her for a moment and sighed before stepping off her futon. "Well, I suppose I can't ignore this. After all, I'm on the school payroll. Young lady, you've interrupted my afternoon nap."
Sayoko, clearly displeased with her attitude, retorted, "How can the school employ someone like you? Couldn't they find a more professional doctor?"
"I may not be a top-tier doctor," Suzu replied with a faint smile, "but I can at least manage to dress a wound." She then turned to Yuta. "Your name is Yuta, right?"
"Yes," Yuuta nodded, unsurprised that Suzu knew his name. After all, he'd been here with quite a few students before.
Suzu glanced at Yuta, then at Belldandy and Sayoko, and spoke with playful interest, "You know what? I suddenly feel like being lazy. How about I teach you how to clean wounds, apply medicine, and bandage them? You can treat her yourself. It's good for a boy to take initiative. Someone like me should create opportunities for you youngsters."
Belldandy looked at Suzu, her eyes filled with a trace of concern.
Originally, Suzu had intended to tease Belldandy, but as she met her gaze, she instinctively sensed danger.
It felt as though she was standing at the brink of utter peril, where death could strike at any moment.
The feeling unsettled the usually composed Suzu, and she realized her palms and back were suddenly drenched with cold sweat.
"Don't take it too seriously," Suzu said with a forced smile, trying to defuse the tension. "I was just joking to show I still have a youthful sense of humor."
Though she didn't know who this woman was, she quickly decided the wisest course of action was to avoid provoking her.
After smiling and saying that, Suzu turned around to fetch the medical supplies.
Yuta and Sayoko were both unsure of what she was thinking. Yuta, however, brushed it off as just a joke and didn't give it much thought.
Sayoko, on the other hand, had initially been a little flustered, but realizing that Suzu was merely joking and then abandoned the idea midway made her even more annoyed with the woman.
Belldandy, meanwhile, let out a sigh of relief.
People who carry resentment like this can suffer much more severe consequences if subjected to a forced attack than ordinary individuals.
Suzu stood with her back to the three, rummaging through the medicine cabinet while quickly analyzing the situation regarding the trio.
Both Sayoko and Yuta were ruled out as threats in Suzu's mind. The most dangerous person was clearly the woman named Belldandy.
Suzu couldn't recall when she might have provoked or wronged Belldandy. Yet, it didn't seem like the issue was personal. Instead, it felt as if Belldandy simply didn't want her interacting with Yuta.
This realization gave Suzu a slight sense of relief, though she remained curious and wary about Belldandy's true identity.
As a seasoned assassin who had experienced much and learned even more over the years, Suzu was confident in her knowledge. However, no records of this girl existed in her extensive database of information, which was highly unusual.
Meanwhile, Yuta noticed that Sayoko seemed fine and said, "Sayoko, we'll head out now. We still need to visit Aunt Kaoruko."
"Okay, be careful on the way. Thanks for helping me today!" Sayoko couldn't find a reason to keep Yuta any longer, so she decided to save their conversation for another time.
Meeting Yuta casually just wasn't enough for her anymore. Sayoko had already made up her mind—she would transfer from the science department to the literature department just to attend classes with Yuta!
As for her graduation certificate? She didn't care about that at all.
At this moment, Suzu walked over carrying the medicine. While helping Sayoko apply ointment, she casually asked, "Is Belldandy also a student at our school?"
"She's not, but she will be soon," Yuta answered on Belldandy's behalf. He had anticipated this question from many people, so he already had a prepared response.
Suzu smiled faintly. "Well, good luck to you all. I feel this school doesn't suit someone as laid-back as me. Maybe it's time for me to find another job."
Yuta didn't know how to respond, but before he could say anything, his phone rang.
Seeing that it was a call from Kaoruko, he turned to Belldandy and said, "Belldandy, Aunt Kaoruko is waiting for us. Let's go."
"Alright." Belldandy nodded. As she left, she politely said goodbye to the two still in the infirmary before exiting the room with Yuta.
Suzu, now certain that Belldandy wasn't there for her, relaxed. Turning to Sayoko, she smiled and said, "I advise you to stay away from those two. It won't do you any good."
"That's none of your business! I will never give up!" Sayoko glared at Suzu angrily. She wasn't the type to listen to advice.
Suzu chuckled and continued applying the medicine as she spoke. "I'm saying this for your own good. Besides, I don't think you stand a chance. Boys may entertain other thoughts, but what they care about most is the girl who treats them wholeheartedly, who sees them as more important than anyone else. That girl has already beaten you in that regard."
Of course, Suzu also believed that Belldandy had other, more decisive advantages.
She even suspected that Sayoko's injury might have something to do with Belldandy, whether directly or indirectly.
Otherwise, the sudden injury would be difficult to explain.
Although Suzu had no concrete evidence, she firmly trusted her instincts. The best course of action was to leave this situation as soon as possible!
To Suzu, there was nothing wrong or shameful about retreating before a fight even began.
This isn't cowardice—it's intelligence!
