Chapter 98: The Struggle of Buying a House
Yuta's motorcycle can seat three people, unlike regular motorcycles, as it has a sidecar where one person can sit and a back seat for another.
Sasha sits behind Yuta, wrapping her arms around him as she leans close.
Miu, on the other hand, is seated beside Sasha, irritated as she puts on her helmet and stares ahead.
The side position is more comfortable than sitting behind; it feels more like a proper seat. However, the thought of Sasha being so close to Yuta makes Miu quite unhappy.
Yuta looks ahead, starts the motorcycle, and drives off.
"Miu, what kind of house do you think we should buy?" Yuta is mainly concerned about the location, as he feels the specifics won't differ much, so he asks about Miu's preferences.
Miu thinks for a moment but can't come up with any requirements. She replies, "Onii-chan, you can decide!"
Sasha takes the matter of buying a house very seriously. After working hard for years in this country, she has yet to afford a place of her own. Even if it's not her purchase, she wants to help Yuta approach it cautiously.
"Yuta, I think we need to consider all aspects. Buying a house and getting married are both significant decisions!" Sasha believes buying a house is more critical than getting married, but seeing Yuta so casually approaching the purchase makes her hesitant to say more.
Yuta agrees and asks, "What kind of house do you like, Sasha?"
Upon hearing Yuta's question, Sasha shares her dream home aspirations.
"It should have ample sunlight, be close to work, and ideally be quiet, with no disturbances from others. The surroundings need to be nice and the house should be spacious. I prefer Western-style architecture; I don't think I fit in a Japanese-style house. Hmm, a warm-toned villa with a pool would be perfect! Also…"
Yuta feels that even with housing discount coupons, being able to afford a down payment for such a house seems like a challenge.
Glancing at Miu, who also appears dreamy-eyed, Yuta continues driving, lost in thought.
They're really like mother and daughter...
The housing discount coupon allows for purchasing a house at one-tenth of the price. After selling the animation rights of his novel, Yuta received a sum of money, and combined with his scarce savings, he can just about manage four million yen.
Living costs in this country are exceedingly high, especially property prices.
As for standard houses, Yuta doesn't believe his savings would allow him to buy a villa, let alone the high-end villas that Sasha and Miu are dreaming of.
Yuta decides to take a look around first; after all, the discount coupon lowers the total price. He can always opt for installment payments.
With a price reduced to one-tenth, it means that he only needs a one-percent down payment to afford a really nice house.
Thus, four million yen could get him four...
Four million multiplied by ten is forty million, and forty million multiplied by ten is four billion!
Although is in yen, it's still a significant sum. Since he isn't looking for a place right in the center of Tokyo, buying a villa shouldn't be a problem!
Yuta doesn't plan to make a purchase today; he intends to look around first and use the housing discount coupons after a couple of months when he has more money. That would definitely yield better results.
The three of them visit several real estate agencies. The agents here are very patient and sincere, always wearing smiles, which reminds Yuta of insurance salespeople.
In his past life, Yuta had suffered losses while buying property due to these types of people. They would say anything for money, and once you buy the house, trying to track them down later would be futile—many have already left the business!
To find out the pros and cons of properties being sold by a real estate company, one only needs to consult another nearby firm.
In this day and age, competitors can sometimes be the biggest obstacles.
However, despite examining every angle, Yuta still can't find a satisfactory house.
Housing prices are one aspect, but there are also very few options that meet both Miu and Sasha's requirements and are located not too far from schools, especially with both elementary and middle schools nearby.
After a busy morning, Yuta returned home with Miu and Sasha, who were both planning to continue their house-hunting in the afternoon. Along the way, he picked up some food for Hina and Sora.
Sasha was the most proactive regarding the house search, fully aware of how crucial it was to choose a good property. She kept discussing the pros and cons with Yuta.
Yuta found the conversation a bit tedious, as his biggest problem right now was still not being able to find a suitable house.
"By the way, why not ask Sayoko?"
Yuta recalled that a wealthy person like her might have better insight into this matter!
When Sayoko saw Yuta's name on her phone, she felt a bit puzzled. Why was Yuta calling her? Did he want to invite her out for a meal?
With that thought, Sayoko answered the call.
"Yuta, did you need something? I happen to be free right now."
Hearing her voice, Yuta replied, "I hope I'm not interrupting you. Sayoko, do you know of any good properties for sale nearby? Ideally, somewhere close to a good elementary school. I have a friend looking to buy a decent house."
He didn't mention that it was for himself and referred to it as a request for a friend instead.
Sayoko didn't believe Yuta could afford a nice house. Initially, she thought his friend probably couldn't either, but realizing she was also considered one of Yuta's friends, she said, "I know a few places, but they're on the pricier side. I'm not sure about the more affordable options."
"Okay, do you know if there are any high-end houses near Ikebukuro?"
Sayoko wasn't well-acquainted with such things; her family wasn't in the real estate business, and she hadn't paid much attention to properties.
However, Sayoko had a strong sense of pride, and she wasn't going to admit her lack of knowledge.
"Well…um…" Sayoko quickly activated her brain, trying to think of an answer. "You see that tall building? Just go check it out."
After saying that, Sayoko hung up the phone.
Yuta felt that Sayoko's suggestion wasn't quite suitable for him. He still wanted a house with a yard, preferably one with a large garden.
So, he specifically looked for villas in the afternoon, but still couldn't find a suitable place. Being in a city area, it was challenging to find a quiet spot.
After another day of not finding anything suitable, Yuta decided to stop by a temple he was passing by to pray, hoping for better luck in his search ahead.
