Chapter 90 - [89] The Sidecar Motorcycle

Chapter 89: The Sidecar Motorcycle

On Friday, after finishing his morning classes, Yuta was getting ready to head home. He had completed all his coursework for the week and could now enjoy a relaxed weekend.

"Yuta, what a coincidence, running into you again," Raika stood behind him, her voice devoid of emotion.

Yuta looked at her, puzzled. "Raika, didn't we just finish class together? Ah, never mind, just tell me what you want to say."

Reasoning with women is often an inappropriate endeavor.

When Raika saw that Yuta had agreed, she immediately stated, "This weekend, I want to meet the kawaii kids."

Yuta initially hesitated but suddenly thought of a question. He looked at Raika seriously and asked, "Can you play mahjong?"

"Yes," Raika replied, tilting her head in confusion as she looked at Yuta adorably, wondering why he was asking.

Yuta had grown immune to Raika's cute antics, as she often unconsciously made such gestures.

"That's good. How about coming to my place to play mahjong on Saturday? It might be a bit late, but I have a place for you to stay," Yuta suggested, saying something that would typically sound unbelievable to an ordinary girl.

Most girls would likely slap Yuta and exclaim, "That's annoying!" before running off.

But Raika wasn't that type of girl. Upon realizing it was about playing mahjong, she understood. "Okay, then I'll bother you."

"Great! See you this weekend!" Yuta smiled and waved goodbye to Raika, looking forward to having a full table for mahjong again.

School had been in session for five days, and Yuta was close to finishing his design. Only a few minor adjustments remained.

He wanted to take some time to think things through carefully; otherwise, making changes after creating the final product would be a lot more troublesome.

To avoid being disturbed by Sayoko, Yuta left through a different entrance after class.

It seemed Sayoko was determined to prove she was better than others. Whether it was because she bumped her head or not, she constantly sought confidence from Yuta.

Yuta wanted nothing to do with Sayoko and had been avoiding her, which only made her angrier!

.....

Tomorrow was the weekend, and after returning home, Yuta checked the comments on his work on his computer.

The performance of KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World had always been great, with steady sales increasing as the later volumes were published.

His new work was even more lively, sparking discussions about the characters within it.

Yuta didn't delve too deeply into the comments, but since he had some time today, he decided to check out Metronome in Love, a series said to be somewhat similar to his own. The author, Kasumi Utako, had sold a total of 500,000 copies since its release!

With five volumes in total, Yuta finished reading all of them in two hours. His biggest takeaway was—his work could definitely sell 500,000 copies!

With that thought, Yuta felt quite pleased and began making the final adjustments to his design.

"The engine is top-of-the-line, and the motor and transmission are perfectly matched, ensuring noise levels low enough not to disturb a sleeping child!"

"When carrying passengers, it's a trike, but when there's no one to carry, the sidecar can be stored behind, transforming it into a standard three-wheeler!"

"It can charge using solar power when out of fuel! It has two power sources!"

"It should be faster than a sports car and more stable than a train!"

"Add a collapsible rain canopy that can double as a cover when not in use, shielding against rain and snow."

"The design needs to be stylish! It must adhere to aerodynamic principles and the golden ratio."

"Fingerprint locks! High-end facial recognition!"

"Shockproof and anti-rollover design; balance must be a priority!"

"Hmm, also sketch a high-level anti-theft device. If it gets towed away, I should still be able to track its location."

"Right, and add a driver's license to save me the trouble of actually taking the test, along with the license plate."

After multiple revisions, Yuta finally completed the final design. Just as the design documents vanished from his hands, a system notification sounded.

[Ding!]

[Side quest completed. Reward: High-end sidecar motorcycle.]

[You have completed the task [Three Treasures of Man—The Motorcycle], unlocking the next task [Three Treasures of Man—The House].

[Task requirements: Your motorcycle has been left outside your house due to lack of parking. Please acquire a larger house as soon as possible.]

[Task Reward: Housing Price Coupon, issued early; it will not be reclaimed if the task fails.]

Yuta stared at the housing price coupon in his hand, marveling at how incredible it was.

[Housing Price Coupon: A one-time consumable that can be used to purchase a house for one-tenth of its current market price after selecting the desired property.]

Yuta was actually quite satisfied with his current home. However, with the new motorcycle, he realized that parking was a significant issue—he couldn't just leave the bike outside indefinitely.

"If I'm going to buy a house, it's probably time. I'll check out some places tomorrow." With the coupon, he could afford to buy a house outright.

His savings weren't substantial; most of it had been invested in the plastic factory. Yuta had chosen an installment payment plan, using all his money after moving into this house to resolve the factory's issues completely.

The next month's royalties were still a while away, but once they came through, he would be able to buy the house outright.

Many people in this country had been burdened by mortgages and car loans for decades, and Yuta didn't want to be one of them.

"What are the three treasures of a man, besides the car and the house? What's the third one?"

Yuta was curious about what the last treasure could be—clothes? A watch? Household registration? A job?

After pondering for a while and coming up empty, Yuta left his house and walked to the street, gazing at his new motorcycle, which would serve as his means of transportation from now on.

Since he didn't have to pick up Hina today, he placed his hand on the motorcycle's keyhole, and as the bike roared to life, he suddenly realized he had forgotten something.

"I forgot to grab a helmet!"

Feeling regretful, Yuta sat on the motorcycle. His planning was lacking; how could he forget the helmet?

"I'll check near the university and buy two helmets while I'm at it. I can also test ride the bike."

He decided to head for the helmet shop first. Although he was confident in his design, a helmet was definitely essential.

"Destination: Tama University Station!"

Despite the minor oversight, Yuta was very pleased with the bike's performance and speed.

Even on bumpy roads filled with small stones, it remained remarkably stable, and he barely felt any jolting.

In terms of speed, it could surpass many sports cars, quickly decelerating and handling turns smoothly, ensuring maximum safety.

With a great bike in hand, Yuta naturally wanted to take it out for a longer ride, just like Sayoko did, and explore the campus!
