Chapter 30: Anzu
After Yuta left, Aoi Kiriyama slumped into the couch, feeling frustrated as she picked up her phone to call Kaoruko Fujiwara.
"Kaoruko, what are you trying to pull? That guy made me so angry. Just as I was about to have him come back tomorrow to do more work, he suddenly said he wasn't going to continue. I don't want to see him again!"
Kaoruko hadn't been aware of this, but she calmly replied, "It seems he may have found another way to make money. But I thought you'd be interested in him—Yuta is quite the good father. He even turned me down because he wants to be a better dad."
Aoi Kiriyama was a beauty, and, in fact, all of Kaoruko's friends were attractive women. It's easier for beautiful women to bond and form these unreliable friendships.
Their connections weren't particularly deep; they just knew each other and got along well enough to chat.
Aoi, having a serious case of a father complex, was particularly sensitive to such matters.
"Is he married?" Aoi was surprised, having assumed Yuta was just a teenager, only to realize she had misjudged him.
Kaoruko clarified, "No, he's still in college and doesn't have a girlfriend. But he was raised by his sister, and after his sister and her husband died in an accident, he's been taking care of three kids on his own."
"Three kids? Just him, a college student who hasn't even entered the workforce yet?" Aoi found it hard to believe that taking care of children was something any random young man could handle.
Kaoruko, knowing Yuta's situation well, continued, "Yes, a fourteen-year-old middle schooler, a ten-year-old elementary schooler, and a three-year-old—all girls. And he's doing it without relying on inheritance or outside help. It's just him."
Aoi frowned. "Does he have some kind of father complex?"
"No, I think he prefers older women, so maybe more of a mother complex. But above all, he really wants to be a good father. From what I've seen so far, he's a very responsible young man and has been working really hard."
After explaining Yuta's situation, Kaoruko smiled and asked, "I could arrange for him to come over again. Would you be okay with that?"
Aoi tilted her head in thought. She wasn't interested in Yuta and didn't want to interfere with his relationship with the three girls he was caring for.
"Forget it. If he stops by your place, just let him know I owe him some wages. He can pick them up whenever I'm free."
After that, Aoi hung up the phone.
She wasn't the type of woman to be casual about things.
Aoi was well aware of her complex issue, and it troubled her deeply, but it wasn't something she could discuss with her father. So, at that moment, she decided to reach out to Yuta herself to see if he could help resolve it.
She didn't want Kaoruko getting involved, so she planned to find Yuta on her own. Now that she knew his name and age, getting his phone number wouldn't be difficult.
After hanging up, Kaoruko also had a smile on her face.
"A father complex and a mother complex. What kind of developments might arise if these two get together?"
Yuta didn't actually have a mother complex, but Kaoruko had assumed so because of his close relationship with his sister.
After texting Kaoruko to inform her that he couldn't continue with the job due to other commitments, Yuta quickly received a message from her.
The message mentioned that Aoi had said he could drop by anytime to pick up his pay, though Yuta wasn't too concerned about the money.
It was only a few dollars per hour, and Yuta didn't feel it was worth going back to Aoi's place just for that.
The system had rewarded him with some money and the address of Hanamaru Kindergarten, which Yuta looked up and found was quite a distance from where he lived.
Though it was a bit far, this kindergarten was likely a better fit for Hina and suited his current situation. So, Yuta decided to enroll Hina in Hanamaru Kindergarten.
Since it was still early, Yuta decided to bike over to Hanamaru Kindergarten.
The kindergarten hadn't started the new term yet, but after taking a look around and getting familiar with the area, Yuta felt this place would be a good fit for Hina.
The area was just the right size, with cherry blossom trees and some playground equipment. It looked like it would be lively once the school term began.
He went inside to handle the enrollment process since there were only a few days left before school started. It was a good idea to take care of things in advance.
The enrollment process went smoothly; the kindergarten wasn't at full capacity, so they were still accepting new students.
Yuta glanced at the photo wall in the kindergarten, where many cute children like Hina were displayed. Some of the photos even had names underneath. One particularly adorable photo caught his eye—beneath it was the name "Anzu."
Yuta was confident that once Hina started school, she would quickly make friends with these children.
Just as Yuta was about to head home after settling Hina's school matters, he heard a familiar system prompt.
