Everyone—even in the internet age that had been present before the downfall of the world— placed stock on word of mouth. They placed even more stock on word of mouth that originated from the mouths of an influential or trustworthy person.

And for humans, the most effective kind of bait was rage.
Of course, there were a few outliers who didn't care for it at all, but more than ever now, humans would fall suspect to rage bait. Weaker ones especially. Awakened who had let the power get into their heads.
