Emery tried his best to ignore the man, but he occasionally made snide statements that just made Emery want to tear his head off.

Luckily, something helped him dull out the words.
Elyn struck out against the invisible foe in front of them. It had come out of nowhere and had almost come close to tearing his entire face off.
He had no clear idea of what it was supposed to be. It had all happened in the blink of an eye, but he noticed the smooth appearance of scales in an instant. Perhaps a snake or a lizard of some sort.
Before he got a clearer look, the beast disappeared into thin air once more. Elyn's fist also didn't hit anything.
They were facing a tricky opponent here.
"Of course, he needs a woman to protect him. Weakling…"
A snotty voice called out from the side, in a fake attempt at whispering. It was none other than the same blonde man who kept on questioning Emery's authority.
