The skeleton goblin caught the orcish axe, its bony hands wrapping around the hilt. Avi observed as the goblin examined its new weapon, a faint clatter echoing through the skeletal frame.
[The skeleton goblin has gained a new weapon: Orcish Axe.]
The system message confirmed the successful equipment of the orcish axe by the skeleton goblin.
"Good choice," Avi remarked, satisfied with the upgrade. He then turned toward the dead orc and raised his hand towards him.
"Arise."
Avi said as A purple hue shot at Orc's body. The purple hue slowly spread across the body developing its dead body.
[You have used the Raise Undead skill]
[The targeted monster's soul is resisting against Raise Undead. The skill Raise Undead has failed.]
"Why can't I make him my undead slave?" Avi muttered to himself after all, Hydra the sea serpent is an undead slave and is way stronger than this orc, so why?
Soon enough Avi got his answer.
[The dead cannot respond to your summon. 'Due to your low level.]
That still didn't answer Avi's question maybe because the circumstances were different when Avi was trying to make Hydra his undead slave.
Anyway, it seemed that Avi could not control the orc yet. So, he resurrected a goblin's body to make a skeleton.
"Let's take a brief break here. If we see such monsters wandering in droves, we have to run away," Avi said. "By the way, I forgot to ask you until now because of our circumstances, but which card did you choose, Emma? I was so absent-minded... Well, you might know it, but I'm a Necromancer."
"I thought you were. I'm a Judge of Evil. I don't know what it does but it has four stars."
"Judge of Evil, huh? That sounds intriguing," Avi mused, considering the possibilities of Emma's chosen card. "Four stars might indicate a strong ability. We'll discover more about it as we navigate through this world."
As they took a brief break, Avi examined the surroundings, maintaining a vigilant stance. The forest was alive with the rustle of leaves and distant sounds of unknown creatures.
"Since we have a moment, let me explain a bit about my abilities. As a Necromancer, I can control and raise the undead. You've seen my skeleton goblins in action," Avi began, gesturing towards the skeletal minions.
"I also have a skill called Shadow Step, allowing me to move swiftly between shadows. It's useful for surprise attacks and evading enemies," he added, demonstrating a quick, shadowy movement.
"Now, do you know if there are any other humans alive in this area other than us?" Avi asked after the moment, Emma looked at him with a bit of hesitation and said.
"They are, everyone is at the nearby underground train station."
"I see," Avi said as he thought for a bit.
'Maybe that's the reason I didn't see anyone here.'
Avi pondered the information about the underground train station. The revelation brought a mix of relief and concern. It meant that there were other survivors, but the unknown dangers and challenges of this new world lay ahead.
"Well, knowing that others are alive is a positive sign. We should head to the underground station, gather with the survivors, and assess the situation," Avi suggested a sense of determination in his tone.
As they resumed their journey, Avi couldn't help but think about the orc's resistance to becoming an undead minion. It was an anomaly, and he wondered if there were other factors at play in this world.
"We need to be cautious. The rules of this place might not always align with what we expect," Avi advised, glancing at Emma. "And keep an eye out for any signs of more monsters or unexpected challenges."
The forest path began to shift, becoming denser as they approached the underground station. Avi and Emma moved forward, ready to face whatever lay ahead in their quest for survival and answers.
***
I run, sorry we run, me and Emma. After climbing down from the hill we have entered the poisonous gas area, thankfully this time I came prepared.
Before climbing down to hill I had brought a purifier mask, the mask would purify any poisonous gas for twenty minutes.
The only drawback is that it's a time item so we don't have much time.
I turned and a side street appeared. Now the distance to the underground Station was 100 metres in a straight line. I breathed in and started to run with all my strength. I could see the Exit 3 sign in the distance.
....Closed. Then on the other side?
There was a fire shutter down at every exit due to the disaster situation. I could break the shutter with his thorn but if I did it wrong, the people inside might be damaged.
"Exit 4..."
Emma said we both ran towards Exit 4. Then I found a fire shutter that was rolling down. I placed the thorn in the gap of the shutter that was trying to close. Somebody yelled out.
"Shit, what is this?"
"Open the door."
"N-No! You can't come in! Go away!"
"There is a wounded person."
"We are already in a full state! We don't need any more people!"
They were closing the gates?
"I don't care about that."
I used my dagger as a lever and lifted the shutter as hard as possible. Since my strength to 32, I now had the strength of half a dozen adult males.
"Whack!"
There was a loud sound and the people on the other side of the shutter became nervous.
"R-Run away!"
The scared men escaped into the darkness of the underground passage. I entered the station safely one step behind me was Emma, and I lowered the shutter down on the floor.
[You have entered the safety zone.]
