Chereads / His A-list Star: A glamorous comeback / Chapter 35 - AT THE RIGHT TIME

Chapter 35 - AT THE RIGHT TIME

"Isn't the interview over already?" Ivy yawned, covering her mouth. She was seated at the back passenger's seat of the cream mini bus they came with to drop Jane off. She tugged on the sweatshirt she was putting on. She half yawned again, staring across the street through her windshield.

She pulled back her gaze to look over to her phone. It was 4:30 pm. "Shouldn't it be over by now?" She asked, eyes directed on the screen of her phone. "Why isn't she coming out?"

"I guess the interview is getting longer than we thought," Indy sighed. Hands resting on the steering wheel, she leaned her back against the driver's seat. Her eyes directed on the street through the windshield, also waiting for Jane to show up.

"Wasn't it a three hour interview, it should be done by now..." Ivy sighed. "Unless she's purposely delaying coming out." A sly smile appeared on her face when a thought popped in her head. Her fingers started typing frantically on her phone.

"What's taking you so long?" She texted Jane through telegram. "Isn't the interview done or are you perhaps having and feeling all bubbly meeting Toro?"

She attached two bubbly and devilish emojis and sent the message. The smile on her face stretched as she pictured the way her sister must be feeling right now. She was all excited when Wonder Prism Studio reached out to her to offer her the female lead. Ivy could still remember the look on her face when she saw that message. Ivy had that notion that what her sister felt for the top actor wasn't just respect and stuff. It was beyond that.

"You really are that excited?" She had asked her when they headed home from a shoot.

"Mhmm," Jane nodded and beamed like a kid who was given her favorite gift as a Christmas present.

"Why do I have that feeling that you really like him," she teased, expecting her reaction but Jane nodded in affirmation, nibbling on her lower lip.

"I really do...wouldn't you feel the same when you meet your favorite celebrity..." Jane trailed off, noticing the strange look across Ivy's face. She must be having some weird stuff going on in her head right now. "Yeah, I know but you can't blame me for fangirling."

"You aren't fangirling, you are deeply in love with him…..this isn't just a crush one has on a celebrity, this is more. It'd be no surprise if Toro shows up in front of you and asks you to date him, I'm one hundred percent certain you will accept him without batting an eye."

"Is that how much you like Toro Wilson?" She lifted a brow, giving her an inquisitive look.

"That's not true," Jane said, avoiding Ivy's eyes. "He's simply an actor I look up to, my role model and inspiration. I love his acting skill and want to act as realistic as him. He's just that—- and I don't have any special feelings toward him."

"Then why are you avoiding my gaze and why are your cheeks suddenly red?" Ivy watched her body language.

"My cheeks aren't red," Jane snapped, suddenly becoming defensive. "Stop making up narratives in your head."

"Yeah, yeah," Ivy nodded, not buying any of her words. Just keep telling yourself that until you believe it. She whimpered the last line under her breath.

'She definitely isn't going to let go of him there.' She lets out a breath, gaping at the screen of her phone, waiting for Jane's response.

"Uh? Did you say something?" Indy asked, and looked at her through the front rear mirror.

Ivy shook her head. "Nothing important." Eyes still on her phone as she waited for Jane to respond back on why the interview was taking so long.

"Excuse me," said Indy and picked up her ringing phone. "Hello honey." She answered. "I'm doing fine, you? No…... .actually I'm a little busy right now, I'm at the interview venue with Jane Anderson."

"When will it be over?" A smile flashed across her face, reaching out to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear, and lowered her face. Giggling a bit. "You already miss me? I was with you throughout yesterday, you know....and the interview will be done soon." She shifted her gaze to her wristwatch.

"Give me at least… by 5 o'clock, we'll be through by then…..Yeah, see you then. I love you."

She hung up, replacing the phone on the phone holder in the car.

"Uuhh… .." Ivy cooed with a mischievous grin, watching the smile on Indy's face. "Who is he? Who's that mysterious boyfriend of yours and when are you going to introduce him to me and Jane?"

Indy chuckled. Meeting Ivy's teasing eyes through the rear mirror. "When the time is right, I will introduce him to you two. I promise."

"When the time is right?" Ivy repeated her sentence, harboring a skeptical look across her face. "What time is the best time to introduce your mysterious boyfriend?"

Indy let out another nervous chuckle. "There's a lot going on right now and I'm waiting for everything to settle down before making him known and because of my busy schedule, I can't seem to find the perfect time to introduce him. I'm still yet to find the guy your sister had a one night stand with and who took the pictures and uploaded them."

"I have a lot on my plate right now…."

"Oh that? How is that going?" Ivy returned her attention to her phone and was disappointed to see Jane hadn't responded. "Were you able to get a clue?"

Indy shook her head. "Not yet, but I did manage to bring down some videos and the hateful posts and comments. I'm still yet to find the source, whether it was a reporter or a blogger." She let out an exasperated sigh.

"I see," Ivy mumbled inaudibly. Gaze still glued on her phone. What was taking Jane so long in there? They waited for another few minutes but there was no glimpse of her resulting in Ivy calling her.

"Hello, where are you? We have been waiting for a long time now, isn't the interview over already?" Her voice sounded a little bit upset but what she got back in response was heavy breathing at the other end of the line.

Don't....go, a male voice echoed in the background. "I will call you later, Ivy," she heard Jane's voice.

"Where are you? You still here?"

"Actually I'm here with Toro. We have left the interview place. We are along the road that's leading up to Las Vegas strip."

A disbelief snort escaped from Ivy. "And here we are waiting forever for you."

"I'm sorry, I should have called you guys earlier to go without me. You guys shouldn't wait for me, we already left the interview place."

"Interesting…." Ivy hung up. Still having that look of disbelief on her face.

"What did she say?" Indy asked. "Aren't they through with the interview?"

"She already left." Ivy announced. "I believe she left in Toro's car."

"Ohh," was the only word that came from Indy as her eyes lit up with a little surprise.

"Is there an eatery nearby? I'm suddenly feeling very famished."

It was almost 6 pm as Indy drove uptown to an eatery nearby, situated at the northern side of Las Vegas. They alighted from the car and made their way in. The interior was wonderfully made, intricately designed. The inside bustled as waiters and waitresses took people's orders.

"Wow, their food must taste great for it to be this crowded." Ivy commented, roaming her eyes around the busy eatery occupied by people. Finding it difficult to find a vacant spot.

"I know, right?" Indy smiled and proceeded to walk up to the counter an attendant was behind. Ivy wanted to follow suit but something or more like someone caught her attention.

Coming inside the eatery was the same guy she argued over a cloth with. Her eyes went wide with shock and surprise. And for some weird reason, he waa putting on the same sweatshirt as her. When did he put on that? Didn't they just meet hours ago?

"You...again?"
