Chapter 90 - Chapter 87

Diaval, known for his obstinate nature, wasn't about to make things easy for Jon. As a dragon, he required a rider with a strong will, someone who could match his own indomitable spirit. Bahamut, flying close behind Diaval, remained vigilant in case of any emergencies, knowing that Diaval could be a challenging.

In the skies, Diaval initiated a series of aerial maneuvers, performing aerobics among the clouds, pushing the limits of speed and daring. Bahamut connected with Jon through their consciousness, encouraging him, "Aemon, don't give up. Every rider must prove their worth to their dragon. Prove yourself worthy, Aemon. Prove yourself worthy of being a dragon rider."

Feeling the pressure, Jon tightened his grip on the spines protruding from Diaval's body. Diaval, relishing the opportunity to test his future rider, increased his speed and executed even more daring maneuvers, challenging Jon to match his resolve.

As Diaval stabilized his flight, Jon gradually calmed down and began to enjoy the experience of soaring through the sky. Tempted to spread his arms and let out a scream of excitement, fear held him back. Suddenly, Jon remembered that Bahamut had been following him moments ago, and he searched the sky.

To his surprise, Jon spotted Bahamut in humanoid form, standing confidently on Diaval's back. Bahamut seemed to effortlessly balance himself, defying the rushing currents of air. Unable to contain his curiosity, Jon blurted out, "How can you do that?"

Bahamut shook his head, a hint of amusement in his eyes, while Aithusa rested in his arms. "I possess many abilities, Aemon. I am often likened to the God of the Land for a purpose. Questions like yours fall into the realm of the mundane. Dragons, my young friend, defy fate and challenge the heavens. They are not bound by the limitations that confine the ordinary."

With a simple call, "Diaval," Bahamut directed the dragon's attention back toward the wall.

Diaval took the opportunity to draw attention as he flew closer to Castle Black, releasing a resounding roar that reverberated through the air, making the mighty Wall shudder in response. The impact of his presence was undeniable. Choosing a landing spot at a safe distance from the camp and Castle Black, Diaval gracefully descended, allowing Jon and Bahamut to dismount.

Bahamut couldn't help but find amusement in the situation—the image of a dragon riding a dragon seemed comical to him. Despite the playful banter, he sensed a change in Jon. The young man, bolder now, approached Diaval's head with a newfound confidence. Diaval, uncharacteristically, allowed Jon to get closer without displaying his usual haughty demeanor.

Bahamut felt reassured in his choice of dragon for Jon. Both dragon and the Jon's girlfriend, seemed to enjoy playfully bullying Jon, eliciting laughter from Bahamut.

After a brief interaction between Jon and Diaval, the dragon soared back into the sky, choosing a location near Castle Black instead of venturing beyond the Wall, in adherence to Bahamut's rules. Accompanied by Jon and Aithusa, Bahamut returned to Castle Black. The wildlings, witnessing Jon's accomplishment, began to view him in a different light. Bahamut gracefully stepped aside, allowing Jon to bask in the spotlight. However, since taking control of Blood Raven's greenseer magic, Bahamut found himself experiencing dreams that seemed akin to predicting the future—an occurrence that slightly annoyed him.

Last night, Bahamut found himself in a dream that felt more vivid and tangible than usual. In this dream, he witnessed a vast expanse beyond the Wall, populated by undead creatures standing motionless. What puzzled him even more was that he observed this scene not in his familiar humanoid or draconic form but in the human form he had in his past life.

As he contemplated this mysterious dream, the atmosphere was disrupted by the resounding roars in the sky. Turning his attention upward, Bahamut beheld numerous dragons, their colossal size rivaling his own. Strikingly, these dragons appeared different—ice dragons. Atop one of them, he spotted the Corpse Queen, riding with an expression of confusion directed at Bahamut.

Before he could comprehend the meaning of this dream, it abruptly vanished, replaced by the shriek of a black dragon that had stealthily approached Bahamut's back.

If the vision in his dream held any truth, Bahamut realized that the impending war wouldn't unfold as easily as he had anticipated. The unexpected appearance of the Corpse Queen in his dreams added a layer of complexity to the challenges ahead. Although the idea of summoning other young dragons crossed his mind, he hesitated, mindful of the past consequences that had fueled the fear of Targaryens among the loyalists. Bahamut weighed the risk of putting his kin in harm's way against the potential advantages.

Aware that he could handle any opposing dragons as long as there were no Night King's spears to threaten him, Bahamut sought a more strategic plan to confront the impending threats. Sensing a lack of manpower, he decided to dispatch more ravens to Kings Landing, urging the dispatch of five generals and a contingent of 2000 strong soldiers, accompanied by sorcerers, to reinforce his side.
