Chapter 36 - See you

Midnight, the lovers intertwined on the bed, a sudden ring of the bell on the door made Rhett groan in annoyance.

Neva spooned, sleeping on the left side of the bed, slowly unveiled her eyes.

Being light sleepers, the irky noise were very bothersome for the both of them.

Neva turned around—lifting her head up to glance at the door above Rhett's large frame enclosing her.

"Someone's at the door Rhett." Her sleepy, sweet voice uttered. He hummed in response.

She gazed at the sleeping man, his eyes still veiled in leisure.

She untangled his arms around her waist and attempted to sit up.

Before she could get off the bed, he grabbed her hand.

Neva confused glimpsed at him.

He had his eyes opened wide. "Stay here."

Rhett with a sour appearance slid off the warm covers—getting out her intoxicating arms.

The ringing intensified, he decisively got a gun out the cabinet and carefully trudged towards the door. Neva sat up, swallowing the lump formed in her throat, afraid of what was to reveal beyond the door.

Rhett stood by the entrance—gaze sharp peeking through the peep hole, the pistol with a cylinder shaped silencer equipped to fire if obliged to held in his ear level.

The entryway divulged Ace's anguished self.

His expression eased, he lowered the weapon and twisted the doorknob open.

He probably came with an information carrying scourge.

"Is something up?"

"Boss you have to leave now." Ace returned.

As the familiarity emerged from the voice, Neva's shoulder loosened and dropped, a sigh of solace escaping her lips.

Ace continued. "Raka's men have likely infiltrated all the airports. So we've got tickets for a cruise to New Zealand instead. It should rather be safer."

Rhett closed his eyes. He inhaled deeply through his nose. Frustrated from the mess in the dead of the night.

"What times is it?" He probed, massaging his temple.

Ace glanced down at his vintage watch. "One past fifty." He said, grabbing some documents out from his jacket and handing it out to him.

"Your passports."

"Lily Baker and Rocky Baker?" Scrutinzing the details, Rhett raised an eyebrow at Ace.

"You don't like the names?" Ace frowned.

"It's fine." Rhett replied.

"The cruise leaves at 3 a.m." Ace informed and dragged out a green pistachio trolley before him. "We forgot about it earlier." He said.

Rhett hummed in response.

"We'll move within the next ten minutes." He held the standing handle of the weekend bag, dragging it in.

Ace nodded. "Alright Boss, we'll be waiting in the car."

Rhett nodded and closed the door in his smiling face.

His gaze landed on Neva standing lost by the bed.

He walked in, positioning the trolley by the foot of the bed and throwing the documents on the sheets.

"Will you be alright travelling on a cruise?"

"I should be." Neva murmured.

It was not like they were on a vacation and had a choice.

Rhett met her strained eyes. His hands cupped her cheeks and he leaned yo kiss her on the forehead. "We need to hurry." He tilted his head, searching her eyes.

Neva nodded in return, and went on separating herself from the warmth of him.

In the short ten minute, Neva dressed herself up in a beige knitted, flared sleeve sweater and light blue flared jeans.

In her heart she praised Sky for her fine fashion sense. She paced around packing her needs.

Rhett dressed and packed with his 'necessities', which was mostly weapons, raised an eyebrow at her. "You're wearing only that?"

Neva turned her head to face him, she shook her head—raising a jacket for him to see.

Ten more minutes elapsed, she finally finished loading up her luggage. "Let's go." She said wearing the jacket.

He told Ace about being prepared in ten minutes, but he forgot he had a woman now.

Rhett chuckled, very delighted.

"What?" Her brows perked up.

"Nothing." He said, swaying his head.

He neared her and kissed her on the lips. Grabbing the luggage from her hand, he cradled her warm one.

Soon enough, the couple converged with the rest in the car, waiting for them.

They dare don't mention about them being twelve minutes later then the informed time.

Snow appeared rare tonight. The night cold and dark, the streets vacant, with moon and street lights illuminating the mortal world.

After a smooth ride of thirty minutes they reached their destined port.

"The cruise leaves in twenty minutes." Sky apprised as the vehicle comes to a halt.

"I think I can count on you to get the Ruhd back." He said, making the four heads immediately turn to him. It was the last mission he had taken up to rescue the hostages from hotel Aurora.

Although they saved the captives unharmed, Raka still got his hands on Ruhd when President was on his way to the hotel, a pretend so Raka wouldn't see through the plan.

Although Rhett was often cold with them, he did trust the agents.

"Don't worry Boss. We'll handle it here. You have a safe voyage." Ace grinned.

"Thank you, for everything." Neva harbouring a soft demeanour expressed.

"It's our pleasure." Sky responded, embracing her.

Neva surprised from her sudden tenderness, she slowly wrapped her arms around her.

"See you Neva Mae." Sky said.

"See you Sky." Neva smiled.

Parting away, Sky smiled at her. "My true name, it's Elfie."

Neva smiled at her. "Then see you soon Elfie." "I'm Zac and he's Lay." Ace abruptly, out of the blue declared, making Rhett roll his eyes.

Hunter side eyed the mischievous Ace.

Neva chuckled. "It was nice knowing you guys."

For all times, Rhett silently peered at them, them he opened the door and got off, helping Neva after. He walked around the rear of the car—taking out the luggages from the trunk.

Rhett entangled their hand, heading towards the sumptuous cruise.

Neva looked over her shoulder, the Porsche rumbling away.

She then looked ahead, breathing in her new escapade.
