Chapter 3 - Waking Up

Elie, who had awoken in this unfamiliar yet beautiful room adorned with the striking combination of black and amethyst colors, couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder wash over him. He contemplated, "This is probably my room; it's big and beautiful." It was a stark contrast to the life he had known before.

As his senses fully awakened, Elie was suddenly aware of someone's comforting presence. He turned his head and met with the gaze of two remarkably familiar and indescribably beautiful faces. A radiant smile graced their lips. It was his mother and sister, Elizabeth and Elize.

Tears welled up in Elizabeth's eyes as she whispered lovingly, "My baby." She tenderly caressed Elie's hair, and in that moment, he couldn't help but return her smile, the warmth of their bond washing over him.

In his previous lives, one on Earth and the other in this new, fantastical world, Elie had known a profound absence of family. On Earth, he had been an orphan, abandoned in front of an orphanage, left with countless questions about his parents' abandonment. His life on Earth had ended in tragedy, trying to save a girl and being falsely accused of a heinous crime.

In his previous world, born into middle-class nobility, he had lost his mother during childbirth, and his father had perished in a war on his fifth birthday. As the sole heir to their estate, he had been thrust into a position of governance.

By the age of twelve, he was sent to the front lines of a kingdom's war, enduring six gruelling years of conflict. At eighteen, he had achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the world's youngest general.

Yet, a rift had torn open the sky, unleashing destruction and monstrous beings upon the land. The people had rallied to fight back, but after six years of relentless struggle, their world lay in ruins.

Elie, looking into his mother's eyes, responded with a soft but heartfelt, "Mother."

He had already embraced this new family as his own. He then turned his gaze to the figure beside her, the spitting image of his mother, who held his hand affectionately, his big sister Elize.

"Big sister," he called out, a term of endearment he had missed using.

Seeing the sadness in his sister's eyes, he furrowed his brow and asked, "Big sister, is everything all right?" His worry was palpable.

Their mother, Elizabeth, noticed Elize's melancholy and gently patted her daughter's shoulder. Feeling her mother's comforting touch, Elize emerged from her reverie, offering a smile to her little brother. "Yes, I'm okay, my baby brother," she replied, her smile tinged with sadness.

Elie observed his big sister's forced smile and made a silent promise to himself: 'No matter what happens in the future, I will never make Mother and big sister cry.'

Elize interrupted the moment with a playful question, "Did my baby brother sleep well?"

Before Elie could respond, his mother playfully said, "Yes, you must have slept very well 'cause you were smiling when you were sleeping. Did you perhaps dream something good?"

Elie nodded. Of course, he is happy; he has a cheat system.

Elizabeth continued, "Okay, what did you dream then?"

Seeing his family's curiosity, Elie hesitated momentarily but then shared his dream, prompting a collective snuggle from his mother and sister, who held him close on the bed.

Elie couldn't help but smile inwardly at the warmth of their embrace as he thought, 'Should I tell Mother about my system?' After contemplating, he resolved, 'Well, it wouldn't hurt to share, and I want to grow closer to her. Plus, I could use her guidance on allocating my attribute points; she's the strongest, after all.'

As Elie lost himself in thought, Elizabeth couldn't help but wonder what was going through his mind. She, after all, could perceive people's thoughts, being a god herself, but she respected their privacy and didn't pry.

Elie finally spoke, "Mother and big sister, I have something to tell you." The seriousness in his expression piqued their interest, and they smiled, eager to hear what he had to say.

Elize gently helped him sit properly, and they all moved closer. His mother sat on his right, his sister on his left, creating an intimate circle of family.

"Mother and big sister," Elie began, his voice filled with determination. He explained the intricacies of his unique system and its functions, ending with a question that hung in the air, "How should I allocate my attribute points in the future?"

After an intense half-hour of explaining the mysterious system, Elize's curiosity could no longer be contained. She leaned forward, eyes filled with determination, and asked, "Can you show us this 'system'?"

Elizabeth's concern was palpable. She felt something bound to Elie's soul earlier. She needed to see this system with her own eyes to discern whether it threatened her beloved child. If it did, she vowed to wield all her influence and power to obliterate it, especially the dreaded quest feature. She couldn't bear the thought of her son embarking on perilous quests to gain strength; spoiling him instead was her utmost desire.

Elie was unaware of his mother's fierce resolve. After a minute of concentration trying to somehow figure out how he could show it to them, he succeeded.

Before he could show it to them, the system chimed.

**DING** [The host must be careful of those to whom the host shows the system.]

"Can you show your stats?" Elize inquired.

Elizabeth and Elize were overwhelmed by the sheer depth of information. Despite its initial annoyance, they couldn't help but be mesmerized by the soothing and authoritative voice of the system.

Elie, seeing their reactions, couldn't help but feel a mix of pride and apprehension. "Mother, big sister, what do you think?" he asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

Elizabeth was the first to respond. "Elie, this system is powerful, and it can be a great boon to you. However, you must be cautious and wise in its use."

Elize nodded in agreement. "Mother is right. We'll help you figure out the best way to allocate your attribute points and navigate this system."

Elie felt a profound sense of relief and gratitude. He knew he had a powerful support system in his family, and he was determined to make the most of this second chance at life.
