Ragnar did not enter the ground this time as he made his way towards the remaining Arcane and Mutant.
He of course, wasn't going to appear in their line of sight, he had no reason to give them any leeway.
He made his way across the uneven terrain and hid behind one of the mounds in Earth, with less than 50 metres between him and his targets.
He wanted to try something else. Well, it was still going to be the gun but he wanted to try attacking from a distance. He wondered how it would work when the waves need to travel through the air to reach them instead of directly entering their heads.
So, he took aim, this time with both hands. He was not worried about missing in the slightest. His upgraded echolocation that gave him a 3-dimensional model of his surrounding also told him the perfect trajectory for his bullets to travel in order to connect with the target.
His Wave Surge really might be the most versatile ability to ever exist.
Then he lowered his thumbs like a trigger. This action was followed by a resounding boom as the heads of both the people popped with a splatter of blood.
"You have Disposed of a Human of the Arcane Rank, Jared Sylvancrest."
He had already gotten used to the sensation of leaking humanity, so he wasn't bothered by it anymore. He could almost ignore it now if he was in the middle of a heated battle.
Ragnar had used much stronger waves since he was going through the air this time. It had seemed to work perfectly fine; he could also consider concentrating the waves even more to result in a more precise attack.
Just like he expected, he did not receive the kill message for the Mutant. Ragnar knew that humans did not receive any messages normally when they kill each other, that was why he was so shocked when he received it the first time.
And this also meant that just like with Shifted creatures, he did not get any charges from creature of a Rank lower than him.
It did nothing to dampen his mood though since after checking his Saturation again, he had found that he received 6 Charges from this kill as well.
Core Saturation: 444/5000
Ragnar walked over to the corpses, thinking of finding something useful, either to wear, or maybe to use. The first person did not use any weapon, whereas, he could see the Arcane he killed just now did in fact have a weapon.
A double-edged sword. Ragnar could make do with this. He had received basic training in using a wide array of weapons. And a sword was not very hard to use if just used for slicing and parrying. But once one wanted to master the sword, it was probably the hardest one.
He picked it up and hung it behind his back, since it came along with a scabbard that had a strap.
He moved his gaze back to the corpses to check if he liked anything in their clothes. Unfortunately for him, they wore similar clothes to the first guy. Except for the shoes of the Mutant, they were not white, instead looked like black sneakers.
They were not a part of the outfit that the three people shared. Ragnar moved to take the shoes but he suddenly sensed something through his echolocation. Someone was approaching.
It was another human, but this one was riding atop a shifted creature. A shifted creature that looked like a bipedal dinosaur, only large enough to carry a single person. This was the first time Ragnar had seen someone riding a Shifted creature. But he had heard about it before, that some people were able to tame the Shifted creatures using special abilities.
The person was probably along with the three people he had just killed and were coming to check what the earlier noise was. Ragnar was more than happy to gain more charges so he disappeared back into the ground.
He discovered that his Earthen Fusion did not need any Essence to activate this time despite the fact that he was wearing clothes and had a weapon now. So he guessed that it worked in a form of Aura that formed around his body.
The corpses were at an elevation compared to the incoming person so they still shouldn't know about the fate of their comrades. They were climbing the small mountain quite fast but Ragnar still had enough time.
He travelled through the Earth to reach close to them and found out that this person was also an Arcane. So, 6 more Charges for Ragnar.
He appeared with the sword in his hands behind the Shifted creature. It was climbing the mounds with surprising agility.
After appearing, he prepared his stance and shot at the person sitting atop the small dinosaur with a boom. The speed at which he launched himself even surprised him. He had not even used the maximum intensity of shockwaves possible, let alone implementing Sonic waves with them. And yet, he was going faster than ever before.
He was, like always, aiming for the neck. He had learned about all the weak spots in a human body and he preferred the neck and everything above it whenever killing someone. It had become a habit by now.
He started doing it because that was the method that gave the victim, the least time to respond to the situation. They were mostly dead before they can feel any pain. But he later continued it because it was just the best spot for killing someone in one strike.
He appeared behind the person at the same elevation as them in less than an instant, his blade moving like a deadly scythe towards their neck.
But shockingly enough, his blade was stopped before it came in contact with the neck. And yes, he was channelling his waves through his blade. Still, another bright blade had been able to stop it. Even though his sword was stopped, the force behind his attack still sent the person sitting atop the Shifted stumbling down to the ground, along with the mount.
But that was not all. He looked down at his blade, there was a massive cavity at the place his blade made contact with the opponent's. He was sure that the only reason his opponent's blade did not slice through his sword completely were the waves running through it.
Despite all that, Ragnar had no intention of going back on the Rule he had made for himself. He will let this person live since they had earned it in his eyes.
So, without giving them another look, he started moving towards the place he had left his money at.
But it appeared like this person did not cherish their life too much since he heard a soft voice just before he could disappear into the Earth.
"Are you the reason behind the state of this Quaraxi Nest?"
Ragnar felt that the voice was somewhat familiar but he could not match it with a face in his memories. That aside, the content of the voice, made him stop.
He was confused as to why this would be the first question a person would ask in this situation. But they were also lucky since Ragnar might not have stopped if they asked something like who he is or why he tried this.
He turned around, finally gazing at the person he had just tried to kill without looking at exactly who he was killing.
He was confused when he saw the face.
It was actually a girl, a girl that he had seen before.
She had already stood up by now but still looked quite flustered.
Dressed in a White gown with green outlines and leather shoes, she was still the most beautiful person Ragnar had ever seen. She still did not wear any armour, as if she didn't need it. The only thing she carried being a small leather pouch that hung around her waist.
Her dark green hair were tied in a ponytail that came down to her hips. Her green eyes shined like bright emeralds as they looked at him apprehensively. They contrasted brilliantly with her ivory skin that seemed to give off an ethereal glow.
She might have grown even more beautiful compared to last time.
The bodies of mutants naturally evolved towards perfection as they Ranked up, so it was hard to find a mutant who was not beautiful or handsome in their own right.
But still Ragnar could tell that she was exceptional even among other mutants. She had an otherworldly grace and elegance in her movements even in this muddy mound.
But what confused Ragnar was not her beauty or elegance, it was the fact that despite her being the most beautiful person Ragnar had ever seen, he felt no attraction towards her.
None whatsoever, as if, she was not deserving of his attraction, let alone his affection.
